Advantages: good claims service, good prices

We have had one policy or another with this company since 1997. In that year, my husband had his motorbike insured with them when he had a fault accident. His bike was a right off and he was very seriously injured (fine now). Hastings Direct had the best claims service – and bearing in mind I worked in insurance claims at the time, I have a good idea of what is good and not. Their service was quick, efficient and professional at all times. The total loss offer on the bike was made quickly and was a good offer, no need to quibble. They were very good about the fact that my husband couldn’t sign a claim form as he was in intensive care, they sent the cheque before he’d left hospital.

Since then my husband has insured his car with them, and this year I have too. It’s very reassuring to know that if we are unfortunate enough to need to claim, we can rely on getting the sort of service we would expect. Plus their premiums are pretty competitive too!
