Advantages: FREE, simple to use, great customer support
Disadvantages: e-mails & quotes stored online with no opt out of email facility that I could see, though its a good reminder to check back.
Lets face it, shopping around for essential, all be them dull items is tedious and monotonous. Unless you are passionate about insurance then, surely in it various guises (motor, home, travel etc) this falls into the boooooooooooring catgory. Recently having changed address, I needed to get my act together and source some home insurance, contents to be more specific. Now we all have our usual methods of doing this, whether we are lured by TV adverts, opt to troll through the Yellow pages or to take advice from a well meaning friend or relative. If you have had it for years then we tend to stick with what we know. I decided after using the web for various investigations and purchases that I would have a look at what was on offer online. Slightly more fun than the Yellow pages if nothing else. I came across the site www.ask4quote.co.uk and my life became decidedly simpler. This site offers to track down the quotes for you, you fill in a pretty straight forward form detailing your requirements and leave the rest to the site. Within 24 hours of leaving my details the quotes started to come in. You are on the site live for about a week but if you have not found the right deal you can extend that time frame. The site does not just to home insurance it also covers motor, travel, loans and mortgages within their finance section. All easy to use, privately held with your own user name and password. There is the standard disclaimer that your details are not going to be sold onto third parties and best of all the service is completely FREE to use as often as you like. They also help with quotes for business services (online advertising, computer networks, telephone services etc) Travel (Flights, holidays, car hire etc) And there's a category called: House, Home & Life - the list of what they cover in this category alone is far too extensive to cover here, have a look is the best advice I can give. It is compreh
ensive and although I have yet to use this aspect of this site, if it is half as effective as tracing some insurance quotes I will be most pleased. The actual use of the site is simplicity itself. Once a quote is recieved you are sent an email outlining the details of the offer and its terms, included is the company details and how to contact them. As well as the email the quote is saved online at www.ask4quote.co.uk you then simply login and click into "quote tracker" where it lists full details of all the responses you have recieved so far. This is a combination of an online comparison site and a brokerage. The service is quick and easy to use and if you do need any help there support team is quick to reply with a personalised rather than an automated response. I like this site and will definitely put it into my favourites for future use.
