      Great at everything this website offers.

      First things first, review writing is not a get rich quick scheme, regardless of the number of articles written. At best it provides a bit of pin money or some extra pocket money that can be saved up for something special. There are numerous review sites out there some of which are better than others and it is worth doing a bit of research on each to see if it is actually worth investing time and effort in writing and posting reviews on these sites. After all, you want to get rewarded for your hard efforts right? Why should the general public be exploited by the administrators who run these sites, the unscrupulous ones who take the work of the public and use it on their site to generate advertising revenue but give the general public nothing in return.

      One great review site is Dooyoo. Whilst Dooyoo is a European organisation I have used the UK site. This is a review site that enables members of the general public to post reviews about products, experiences, travel and a whole host of other things. The writer is rewarded 500 Dooyoo miles (which equates to £0.50 for posting a review), which must be a minimum of 150 words long. For every read received (a rating is not required) the writer receives a further 50 Dooyoo miles (which equates to £0.05 ). Dooyoo miles can be converted in to Amazon vouchers, hard cash or it can be donated a charity. There are predetermined “cash out” levels that must be reached before the Dooyoo miles can be redeemed, so writers do need a specific amount of dedication and commitment to get something tangible out of posting articles on Dooyoo.

      In order to post on Dooyoo the writer must be a registered member. The registration process is quick and simple and takes a couple of minutes to complete. Once registered the writer is free to get posting articles. In order to post an article the subject matter must be in the Dooyoo catalogue. If it is not in the catalogue the writer can make a formal request through the “suggestions” section. Getting a request approved can take anything from a couple of days to over 4 months or more, which I find simply ridiculous, as a review that was current at the time I suggested a particular product is now obsolete and the product has been replaced with an upgraded alternative.

      Dooyoo was set up to be a product review site that is to help potential consumers with buying decisions, however many articles written are not about products, which seems to defeat the objective of this site. Whilst it may be interesting to read about experiences, advice on particular topics, what the writer’s top ten favourite sweets are etc. these are not products and consumers are not going to buy these items so why are these items on this site? It is nonsensical.

        I think dooyoo is wonderful, but what dooyoo think?

        I joined dooyoo merely a few days ago and I have to say, I''m enjoying it. If I find myself with a lot of free time, I know exactly where I''m going to come to first and it''s here. I find it rewarding to be able to share my opinions on products that I have personally owned and used throughout the course of the last few years and letting everyone that uses this website know just how I interpret them. I think dooyoo is fantastic in the way in which it is run, an original idea which allows access to so many people to find out so much about the things they''ve always wanted or wondered about. Just like other people, I''ll have to admit that the searching of products can be a little tedious at times, if you find yourself trying to search for products more generically then it can be a nightmare, because you sometimes end up filing through page after page just to get to what you were looking for. No website is perfect though and with a little input from fellow members I''m sure this can be made more simple. As of yet, I''m not at the stage where I found myself having written enough reviews or having enough ratings to cash out, but the prospect excites me, because many rewards websites are absolutely dreadful in this sense, taking weeks, even months just for you to cash out for a mere sum of money. But I understand from other members of the site that I''ve had the opportunity to speak to that dooyoo is different. As we all here know though, it isn''t all about the money. I wouldn''t be writing these reviews if I didn''t enjoy it and as I do, I will continue to do so and I hope many more will follow.

        I do, dooyoo?

        I only joined dooyoo a couple of weeks ago but am enjoying myself immensely writing reviews and reading others. Discovering all sorts of products that I'd never even thought about is great fun! I've even managed to acquire a couple of Crowns which I'm really happy about as it shows me that I can write quite well, and have got interesting things to say.

        Sometimes a new face can offer insights which more established members don't see because they've got used to the way a place works. So I thought I'd offer a couple of thoughts about the site from the perspective of a new user.

        1) I find the search function quite hard to use effectively. It's fine when there aren't too many items in a particular category, however as soon as you there are a larger number navigating through them is a nuisance. I know that in some cases you can narrow down your search by manufacturer, for example, but even this doesn't help when that also has lots of results. This means finding out whether a product you own is on the database or not can take ages or just not be worth the effort.

        One thing that would really be helpful would be if the search followed boolean logic. At the moment it seems to search for ANY of the terms you type in, with no way of changing this, whereas it would be better if you could ask it to find both terms (AND). It sometimes does this a bit, but not completely reliably. Alternatively if you could search for a specific phrase by putting it in inverted commas that would help so it only returns that, rather than a bunch of other stuff.

        Having typed all that, it seems to be behaving much better today, coincidence or what? However, the search function could be better, being able to narrow down in many ways using an existing search as a starting point would be good.

        2) I can see that you wouldn't want a complete free for all about adding new items, so I understand the reason for restricting the categories you can request new items for. However, I wonder if this restriction should be permanently restricted for some categories. Places to visit, hotels and so on would be the prime target for this, there's no way that the database can have all the possible options here, yet waiting until a nomination is allowed seems weird as most places won't have a link to a purchasable thing anyway. These things tend to be more "in the moment" than consumer items, for example I had a meal out last week and would like to review it, but I won't remember it well enough in a few month's time! I know I could write the review now and save it, but to be honest I can't see myself bothering. Why not allow additions to be made to this category by members, rather than staff having to approve?

        3) A handy feature would be to be able to see which products don't currently have any reviews; this would encourage people to write one. I would have thought it would be more useful to have reviews for more different products than another one for something which already has 30 opinions. A checkbox to include only unreviewed items in searches, for example, would be handy.

        Anyhow, just my twopennyworth. Back to reviewing!

          Wish I'd met you all years ago

          Hello everyone!

          I only found out about this site last week after reading through a post on the money saving expert website in which a lady was talking about online ways to earn some extra money. In this particular post a lady said that she regularly earnt £10 a week on this site. Immediately my ears pricked up.....

          I was a little bit sceptical at first as I have tried a few online money making sites before but I have always found that it is such hard work and slow progress getting to the cash out stage that I have never actually seen any money from all of the surverys and free trials I have done!!

          This site seems so different though! As I say, I have only been here for a week but already I am seeing my dooyoo miles starting to build up, and what's more, I'm actually enjoying what I'm doing. Telling people what I think of the products that I use and then seeing that people are actually reading what I have to say is rewarding enough on its own, without the additional hope that if I carry on doing what I am enjoying doing I might get an extra £50 for Christmas!

          On the other side of the coin is other people'e reviews. I am loving reading what people have to say about products I am familiar with and products I am not. It's like having a good old gossip with your mates!!

          So keep it up everyone and know that you are all keeping me company morning, noon and night!

            Wish I'd discovered it years ago!

            Well here I am at my 50th review! Whoo hoo!! I joined this wonderful site at the end of April and only wish I had discovered it years ago!

            I first took interest in the site after hearing some members of Money Saving Expert talking about it.

            Actually I am highly impressed with a lot of reviewers on this site. A lot are of a very high standard.

            ~~~So why do I like the site?~~~
            Firstly, it's a great community and very soon after joining, if you spend enough time reading others' reviews, you find some great reviews of some great products and get to know some interesting people from all walks of life.
            I love the fact that you discover products you never knew existed and peoples views on products you are familiar with.
            Very soon after starting to read reviews, I got to recognise people more from their picture than their names and I would encourage the few people that DO change their pic regularly to think twice about this. I sometimes pass them by and then realise they are in my circle of friends.
            I would recommend that new Dooyooers take a good look around the site and read and read and then read some more! It gives you a good idea of what makes a good review and people are more likely to rate you back when you do finally get your first review up.
            ~~~Any room for improvement?~~~
            Much as I like the site, there is one thing in my opinion that would improve the site. It would be great if there was some way of marking the reviews that you have read. When I am rating back, I quite often find myself getting to the bottom of reading a review and find that I have already rated it. Would be so much simpler if it was marked on the review before you even clicked on it. I often go through several reviews when I am trying to find one I haven't looked at and get frustrated as I have already read a lot of them.

            ~~~Crowns~~~
            There is nothing like the feeling of seeing that first golden crown next to one of your reviews! Subsequent crowns are also great of course but that first one is just magical. A big thank you to anyone that has ever nominated one of my reviews to be crown worthy! It is really really appreciated! The only thing I don't like about the crowning system is that sometimes it tends to be the longer the review, the more likely it is to be crowned. I'm not saying they don't deserve a crown as obviously they have lots and lots of info in the review but if I was reading a review to actually buy a product, I wouldn't want to read an extremely long review.
            ~~~Nominating a review for a crown~~~
            I don't say when I nominate and prefer it if it is done in secret. Some people will say that they have nominated a review but I feel uncomfortable seeing it on my own or others reviews. I always feel like it could be looked at as if "I have nom'd you if you will nom me back." I'm sure in all cases it's not meant that way but still doesn't sit right with me.

            ~~~My routine~~~
            I guess everyone has their own way of working but I always look at the last people to rate me when I first sign on and rate back if I can. I will then take a quick look through new reviews to see if there is anything to take my fancy and finally I will go through my circle of friends to see if I have missed any of their latest reviews.
            ~~~Summary~~~
            Dooyoo is a great community that is rather addictive. At first I thought I would soon run out of things to review but now I'm realising I never will. There are infinite books to read, restaurants to visit and places to visit or stay as well as all the products you buy. I love writing and can write for England when I'm in the mood. It's great to read others comments on my reviews and even greater that I earn a little extra money from it which I convert to Amazon vouchers. Love it!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              A great site to share your opinions and read other's reviews.

              Yes there is definitely such a thing as Dooyoo addiction! But that is another topic.

              I feel I want to review something daily, as well as reading other's reviews. I do read the reviews daily but sometimes I run out of things to review.

              I do not worry about the 150 word minimum for the reviews as once I get started it is very easy to go way over that total without trying - easily getting over the 1000 mark for something that you really appreciate.

              I like to split my reviews up into sections - such as details about the products, price and ingredients - and also my opinion and a star rating. Some people are not keen on the ingredients being included but I figure they are a relevant part of the product and as I include them at the end people are free to ignore them as they wish. I do not add them for padding but as an integral part of the product description. Some people may be more interested in the ingredients than others - but I see no harm in putting them there.

              I have been part of the Dooyoo community now for coming up to two years. I really enjoy the community feel and getting to know people by their Avatars. It is also nice when someone takes the time to leave a little comment.

              I have been pleased with the points I have gained - some I took out as cash but now I am taking them as Amazon vouchers in readiness for Christmas. It is surprising how quickly they mount up - though I have never calculated a monthly rate like I have see some people do.

              I am way behind many on here but I have had two reviews receive Crowns - for which I was most surprised and delighted. I never say if I nominate anyone and I think the practice may be dying out a little - as it does seem a bit of 'tit for tat' if you tell people you have nominated them for a Crown. I always take time to rad and review and I have rated more than I have been rated - not much - but I do try and be part of the group.

              The five suggested products you can propose a week sometimes does not seem enough - or sometimes it is way too much and you have nothing in the suggested categories. The thing I do find irritating is to have something to write about but then find the category is no longer listed - so you have to wait a few more weeks until it comes round again.

              Luckily a lot of items I want to review are already listed in the Dooyoo catalogue - but I do have a little file of items half written up and waiting for them to appear - either by me proposing them or someone else.

              Some items are of course easier to write about than others, and I must admit I am not into writing about computers or ipads. I am more confined to perfumes, cosmetics, food and general household stuff - with the odd book now and again.

              Shopping can be a problem! I shop online with Tesco and it is tempting to buy s different brand of something just to try it - and also have a sly glance on Dooyoo to see if it is already listed and ready for you to do a review.

              I tend to forget to check out the competition page and do not write for a certain category just because it is featured - but tend to just try and review products as I purchase and use them.

              I have become introduced to products I never even knew existed thanks to reviews on here - and also I find it useful to get first hand experience f others opinions.

              Am I sad to appreciate chocolates for my Birthday and Christmas - but only if they are different products to what I have had before so that I can enjoy them twice - once when consuming and then when reviewing them!

                Disadvantages

                write about things you love or hate and earn cash at the same time

                When I first signed up to dooyoo I didn't particularly like the site and thought it would be pretty boring writing lots of long reviews. Also the £50 bank cash out put me off slightly too. I didn't write many reviews the first year but then I started coming back on the site and really got into writing about everything!

                This week I was going to cash out £50 but decided to get £50 amazon to put towards the £60 I already have in my amazon. I am saving for a new bed and mattress and I have to say the £50 will help so much!!

                I try to write at least a couple of reviews a week and then spend the rest of the time rating other reviews in the hope of a rate in return (which generally most people do which is much appreciated).

                I am hoping to write more reviews in the next few months to get another £50 before christmas. The points soon add up especially if you write a review worth 600 dooyoo points and then 20 dooyoo points for each rating. Hopefully it won't take me as long this time round now I know what I am doing.

                I also like to read other peoples reviews as it helps me decide whether or not to purchase them. I have only made a couple of purchases from reading reviews on here but they really helped me to choose the best product.

                Everyone is really friendly on the site which I also like. The only thing I would like to see is maybe a bonus for referrals which most other sites do ... say 1000 points (£1) per referral that writes at least 1 review. Apart from that I can't fault the site.

                  Disadvantages

                  Super friendly community, love it!

                  I joined Dooyoo in 2009 but I don't really have much recollection of this. I think my sister had told me that she had joined and had started to write reviews. Obviously I didn't pay much attention as it is only in the last few months that I have started to use it and don't remember really looking at the website before. I was reading Martins Money Tips website and read about this as a way to give your opinion on things and to make a bit of money.

                  When I first started to use it I read quite a few reviews from people in lots of different categories and also read the community pages to give me a bit of a head start. Although I did read this I am really a hands on person and find that I learn best by doing rather than reading.

                  My first review was a L'Occitane hand cream and now realise that it wasn't very good at all. I had basically written just one large paragraph and not really described the smell or the texture of the cream. The review was marked somewhat useful but I had a few lovely comments and messages from experienced Dooyooers giving me good constructive advice. I found these comments to really help me to see what the difference was between a review and a good review and I was also quite flattered and touched that people were so quick to help me.

                  I have now written 80 reviews and have received my first crown last week which was a lovely surprise so thank you for nominating me. I never expect anything but I did feel quite proud that my thoughts and views were liked by others. I write from a very personal point of view and always try and envisage myself eating, drinking, reading or using whatever item I am writing about so hopefully my reviews give my honest personal opinion, which I am sure is not the same opinion as others, but this is what I think this site is good for as you get a diverse selection of views.

                  I am a very private person and although I am on Facebook I only use it to find out what my friends and family are up to and never put any details, updates or photographs on it, but I find that I can easily write about a lot of personal thoughts and details on this site. Maybe it is because it is still quite anonymous as most people don't use their proper name or that everyone seems to be so friendly and approachable.

                  I do make comments when I feel strongly about a review or product or if I have had personal experience of it, but don't just write comments for the sake of it. I think I would find it hard to write a negative comment about a review as this is not in my nature, but sometimes when I do see constructive criticism comments that are deserved I do agree with them quietly to myself. Also I don't feel that I am 'qualified' enough after only using the site for such a short time but maybe when I have been using it for a while longer and feel like an 'old sweat' I may be confident enough to do this.

                  I have probably been using the site every day since I started to write reviews, at home and also I am lucky enough to work on my own at work for some of the time so also use it there, (have got the art of minimising my screen in a split second now!)

                  I knew I was hooked on the site when I started to recognise Dooyooers from just their photograph before clicking onto it. I find it nice to see the same people and have added quite a few to my circle of trust. I also find it interesting that people tend to write the same sort of review with the same layout, often of around the same length. I know myself that mine are quite similar, obviously if I feel more strongly about a product or there is a lot to say about it they are longer but mine tend to be between 500 and 600 words in general split into several small paragraphs.

                  I have bought and also not bought quite a few items from reading reviews which has probably saved me quite a bit of money. I also find it interesting that one product can have so many different opinions, but I think you need different points of view to make your own informed decision about a product.

                  I think of this site as an interesting hobby which is also paying me. I am trying to save up for a conservatory suite (probably from Ebay where you can get a nearly new one for a fraction of the price of a new one) but am really enjoying writing. This is something which I have always liked and have over the years done a few creative writing courses and have written newsletters and blogs for places where I have worked.

                  I have always sat with the laptop on my lap on the sofa in the evenings which my husband is used to, but when I first started using this site he used to find it a bit strange that I had a tin of beans, a tube of shampoo or a bottle of cough mixture at the side of me. Now he doesn't bat an eyelid!

                    Secret noms suit me and have worked thus far so not changing how I do it :-)

                    Hi guys, thanks as always for your help and support. You gave really helpful replies to the question on my post "Nominations - Private versus public nomination". I am posting the reply here as I don't think if I post it on my reply that you would see it unless you went back in to the review to look at it (or would you get a notification that I had responded another wee bit I can't quite work out haha) so just really wanted to make sure you all saw this THANKS!

                    Your replies were really helpful and it is great to know that I can nominate more than one review a day if I come across a couple of crackers.

                    I will continue to nominate in secret and although it would be nice for the reviewer to know that I felt their review was worthy of a nomination, you guys made a good point that if they are nominated and don't get a crown they could feel disappointed. You also made a good point that it may make some people feel obliged to nominate you back and that is absolutely not what I would want. The general spirit on here is really friendly and supportive and I would hate to think my actions made any one feel they had to return a nomination as they should feel free to do this as and when they want to. Nothing against anyone who decides to nominate publicly and everyone has the right to review and nominate as they like, just on weighing up the pro's and con's, secret noms suit me better.

                    So mega thanks guys I will continue as I was and keep my nomination secret and look forward to reading many more nomination worthy reviews, as there are many excellent and really useful ones out there.

                    Linda :-)

                      Disadvantages

                      I would reccommend dooyoo to anyone such a useful site!

                      Overview: short and sweet review of dooyoo.co.uk
                      I've only recently just joined as a registered member of dooyoo and I'm still learning all the basic rules and everything that I need to do to become a helpful member of this community. I have been using dooyoo as a consumer however, for a few years now as I feel the reviews on dooyoo are probably the most useful.
                      I've actually made quite a lot of big purchases as a result of dooyoo reviews and indeed avoided some buys that I would have regretted. I would recommend dooyoo to anyone as even if you don't have an account I feel it's better than other review sites such as Ciao. The only (very very minor) thing I could recommend is possibly a more modern looking website. A few people have messaged me just in the first couple of days of me opening my account to see if I need any help. This highlights how helpful and generous the dooyoo community is. I can't wait to get reviewing products and I hope I can make new members feel as welcome as I have been. Thanks again :)

                      Thanks for reading - ellis2013

                        Advantages

                        Disadvantages

                        Dooyoo gets Dooyoo 5 Stars

                        It's my hundredth review and thought I'd do as a few others have done, review the reviewing site itself to mark this landmark. I promise to be honest - hope it doesn't get me into trouble!

                        I assume that everyone reading knows what Dooyoo is and how it works but just incase of any newbies, here's a quick description. Dooyoo is a reviewing site that allows consumers to post reviews about items and services. These reviews are read and rated by members. They are also sometimes read by non-members too and help the readers get a better idea of items before purchasing. Each review and each rate earns the writer of the review Dooyoo miles that can then be redeemed for Amazon vouchers or a money transfer.

                        Being a new member
                        I was one of those that didn't read reviews before posting my own and didn't understand how the site worked in the first few days I joined, but I'd like to think I do now. I dived straight into writing reviews (rubbish ones) and then was taken aback when I received comments that were being constructive and helping me to write better ones. I hope that I've now got a lot better at writing, but I do think that it should be made compulsory for new members to take the tour of the site and look at the dos and don'ts of how to write a good review before posting their first one (not sure how this could be implemented though).

                        One minor point about new members though, I sometimes feel that they are rated down compared to more established members on the site. There's been a few times were I've read through a review and rated it 'very useful', then looked at the general opinion showing as 'useful'. Two minutes later I find myself reading a review of an established member that I rate 'useful' or even 'somewhat useful' as there's not much content and it just scrapes the 150 words, yet most before me has rated it 'very useful'. Maybe I just find different things useful compared to others, but I find this a bit bizarre and it has made me wonder whether that new member blue banner has influenced user's rating. I like that Dooyoo recognise new members with crowns as well as established members, because it should be entirely based on the review. That said, those nominations must have come from somewhere so the majority of users must read new members reviews without considering their new member status.

                        Rating
                        I think it's only polite to rate other reviews posted on the site, especially those of members who take the time out to read your posted reviews although I'm happy to read and rate whenever I think people are rating other members in the community. I rate as many reviews as I can and try not to miss anyone, if I do it's genuinely a mistake. I don't feel that everyone though (although I know the majority do!) rate others enough though and I've took the stance now that if I've rated others a few times yet they've never read any of my reviews at all, I've eventually stopped taking the time to look and rate theirs.

                        Crowns
                        Ah, the joy of crowns. What a lovely feeling it is to log in on a Tuesday sometimes to see the number on my profile has risen. And the disappointment some weeks when the number hasn't risen at all :o(. You win some, you lose some as they say. I regularly nominate for crowns where I think they're deserved. Either where I've either read something interesting and informative that I didn't know about a product or a piece of writing that has crammed lots of useful information into it. I don't like to share nominations though, as I'm afraid that if I do put that I've nominated a review, it may put off others from doing the same, with an attitude of 'Ah well, it's already been done so no use in me doing it too'. Likewise, my nomination, if public, might influence other people's decisions to nominate when they may not have usually considered doing so. Dooyoo may count the number of nominations to decide so I feel it's important not to influence others.

                        Are others nominating? We'll never know as it's all in secret - it's all such a mystery! I hope that all users of the site are nominating others when they read a great review. I'm also glad that there's a system in place whereby only some reviews that are nominated receive crowns and that the final decision is down to Dooyoo themselves. And the way they're decided? Mmmm, I find the process slightly confusing but then reading other reviews on the crowning process it seems I'm not alone! I've received a couple of crowns for reviews I personally wouldn't have considered crown-worthy (but thanks very much Dooyoo and for the nominations guys whoever you are!) yet there's a couple of other reviews I've written that I thought were more deserving but haven't received a shiny hat. That cancels things out anyway! Something I think is written well, someone else may consider to be drivel and vice versa. Are guides nominations worth more? Another thing that is kept underwraps at Dooyoo! Also, perhaps the number of nominations it receives? Whatever the process is, I think the whole crowns idea is fantastic and very original - I think it keeps everyone on their toes ready to write good reviews, I love the whole process.

                        Competitions
                        I love the competitions. I was lucky enough to be one of the Easter winners and I say 'lucky' because there were some fabulous entries that I came across for it that I thought were superb. I think the competitions add to the spirit of Dooyoo and brings it's users together a bit more as a community. I like the fact that there's competitions running regularly, some I take part in and some I don't - it's depends on what I'm planning to review and it's good that it's completely voluntary. I also like the idea of the additional 'crown of the days' that are awarded, usually Friday and Monday each week - these are always super reviews and it's great that they're recognised aside of the weekly crowning round.

                        And finally the Reviews!
                        Some of the reviews I've read on here have been so useful in the short time I've been a member. There are several products that I've bought as a result of reviews on this site and I've been very grateful to have background information before buying (I've not bought any Lush or Yankee Candles though as yet - but I'm sure I will in time!) I love reading how people have got on with products and it's certainly also saved me cash, wasting on things that others have found to be no good. In particular, baby items and toys I'd say. There are so many products out there for a baby, yet from reading reviews on here I've managed to avoid those that aren't half as good in practice as they make out on the packaging. So thanks to everyone for their great reviews for helping me decide what to purchase these past couple of months.

                        So there we have my 100th review. My Dooyoo rating for Dooyoo (that sounds weird!) is 5 stars - it's an addictive site that I have nothing to find fault with. It's a great community and long may it continue!

                        Thanks for reading :o)

                          Advantages

                          Disadvantages

                          Not found any review community site which beats Dooyoo!

                          Overview

                          Dooyoo is an online review site, where real clients like you or me can review products we have bought, so that other individuals can take on board different perspective's before they decide to buy. In return reviewers are rewarded via "Dooyoo Miles" and those who do a fantastic review will receive a "Crown" if nominated and chosen. There around 1.5 million Dooyoo users spanning France, Italy, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom (each have their own version (I am reviewing United Kingdom Dooyoo)

                          Website appearance

                          The background colour for the website is white with green labels and black writing.
                          When I first joined the site I found the website to be slightly problematic I feel as though Dooyoo really could do better. An example would be the 'My account page' it is so cluttered there is so much information, to be honest even the home page is really cluttered, with product categories and product highlights, why are they there? You have a top menu with some categories labelled that should be enough, use a drop down label, make it easier for the user. They need to space things and out and give less on each page rather than placing so much information packed within one area. I admit though I am more use to it now nonetheless for such a successful review site you would expect far more.

                          However the site does have clear titles and clear areas and I suppose if you look hard enough you will find what you want through all the other stuff.

                          Website usage

                          To review a product it is quite simple all you have to do is enter it into the search box and the chose to review it. I found reviewing really to be an easy task, you are able to see who reviewed you, how useful people have found your review and even get comments, It allows a sense of community within reviewers and you gain regular visitors. I feel as though it should have a 'spell check' system embedded, most modern sites do. I am Dyslexic and the main area which I suffer from is my spelling and I found it unfortunate that I have to correct my mistakes on Microsoft Word for every single review or attempt to anyway It would make sense just to have it within the review writing section ready for all users. I think I would not be alone in wanting such an addition within the site.

                          ** To all those who keep assuming Dooyoo has a internal spell check due to the red line which appears on your screen when you make an error this is not Dooyoos system it is the internal spell check for which ever browser you are using***

                          Reviewing is really easy and you can access all your own reviews and thankfully correct them or update them, so if you have bought a product which is fine at the moment give it 5 stars and review it, if it decides to break on you for no apparent reason go back and downgrade it. I love the fact it is not fixed!
                          Dooyoo has so many products to review, I have reviewed the Ibeats earphones, Mcdonalds fast food restaurant, HTC desire X mobile phone and a few others...such a variety however I find it unfortunate that I can only review Items on the Dooyoo catalogue there are so many things I want to review which I can't, I did try using the product suggestion, but that is another thing they need to improve and make simpler, why can't I just send the html address and title; Dooyoo is that not enough for you guys to consider an item, what is with the questions on that page...very frustrating. All I want to do is suggest a LG optimus L7 but I'm finding it ridiculously hard to find the correct category for a mobile...But I suppose it is a good job they have a suggestion page, I just have to figure out how to correctly send a suggestion.

                          Community

                          The Dooyoo community is really friendly, I had a message the other day from a lovely dooyooer who told me that I had some spelling errors, so there are always helpful people around. There are guides who are awesome and you can ask for advice, you can specify a guide so if it is a book you a reviewing then the books guide would be appropriate for advice.

                          Dooyoo Miles

                          For every review you get you receive the reward of Dooyoo miles depending on the category the review is the more miles you receive. I feel as though the miles are a fantastic incentive for more people to review. 1000 Dooyoo miles are a £1, you can convert your miles into an amazon card, donate to charity to take the money once you have reached a certain amount.

                          Level 1 reviews: 600 Dooyoo miles and 20 extra per person who reads

                          Level 2 reviews: 300 Dooyoo miles and 15 extra per person who reads

                          Level 1 reviews: 100 Dooyoo miles and 10 extra per person who reads.

                          Dooyoo lounge: 10 Dooyoo miles per reading.

                          Crown

                          You receive a crown if your review is seen as exceptional and nominated by fellow reviewers, not only do you get a lovely crown on your review page but also 1500 Dooyoo miles as a reward! I think it is a great idea and encourages a good community spirit. Cannot wait to get my first crown!

                          Negative aspects of Dooyoo

                          -The site layout Home page and Accounts page really could be updated into something more simpler.

                          -Product suggestion should be more open

                          -No spellcheck, yes this not required for everyone but as said...I would love if they would add this, after all there is an immense amount of writing going into reviewing.

                          -Are the reviews all reliable as there is an incentive people I feel can just blabber on and talk nonsense just to get the miles rather than giving a correct idea of the actual product.

                          Positive aspects of Dooyoo

                          -Dooyoo miles and Crown system is a lovely way of rewarding people for their reviews, I feel especially the Crowns push people to do accurate and detailed reviews.

                          -Easy reviewing just search a product and click review (although at times you get a billion results and have to sive through)

                          -Guides, they are friendly 'experienced' users who will help you and make you feel welcome.

                          -By far the best review community site I have ever been on, great community, friendly people!

                          Overall yes I do believe Dooyoo has some issues, but they are my personal issues, I have noticed that a lot of people are defensive over the comments I have written, but IF Dooyoo does not change new reviewers like myself will be put off sites like this and seek simpler sites. And this is a review site without reliable honest opinions from us it would be worthless. I must say though I joined ages ago and I quit but am back now!...And I am really addicted to Dooyoo, I love reviewing telling people the truth about products and giving them a chance to read other opinions before buying something they might regret or decided against after we the 'people' give our reviews. I think sites like this are really important in the modern day and age were the internet rules! Dooyoo your good at what you do and I may bicker about you as though am your other half Dooyoo but I love you!

                            Advantages

                            Disadvantages

                            Happy Birthday, sort of.

                            This is my 50th review for Dooyoo since I signed up in December 2012. I noticed a prevalence for 'milestone' reviews to be dedicated to the site itself, so I thought, why not... Hope that bandwagon has room for one more. Drunk with power here, already.

                            So, me and Dooyoo, Dooyoo and I, me, you and Dooyoo. Initially, I had dealings with this site in 2008 through someone I knew who had signed up, and I used to proofread their reviews and once or twice dabbled in writing some of my own when they had writer's block. I became reacquainted with the site recently when I started to try and earn some money online *boo, hiss* to pay for my tuition. Yes, school fees are free in the UK (up to age 18) but as I had left school due to health problems I have to pay my own way... and still being unable to work due to said health problems, it was proving difficult. So you could say the money aspect was my priority when I joined up. And my reviews reflected that - they were short and a bit, well, bad. I like to think I have improved.

                            Being literary minded (surprisingly), I found it difficult to transition from fiction to reviewing. There are three tenets when writing non-fiction, objectives to achieve and provoke from your audience: to inform, to persuade, and to entertain. Ideally, an 100% perfect review does all of these things, but I think most of mine do 2/3, which ain't bad. After overcoming that learning curve, I found that I do, honest to God, enjoy writing reviews. It delights me that I can make money, even if it's just a few pence, from writing about things I like or dislike. I still find it shocking that Dooyoo pay for things like book and DVD reviews (and even more so for Dooyoo Lounge ones) but of course I am not complaining. I have to thank Dooyoo for enabling me to find something out about myself and for a hobby I find endearing.

                            However Dooyoo is not all frolicks in the park and raspberry slush puppies, it does have its negative side. There seems to be a great amount of community pressure and a sense of judgement - I partake in this too, every time I see NEW MEMBER posting a review on a mobile phone that barely scrapes past 150 words - 150 poorly spelled words, with no paragraphs or punctuation - I think: why God? To be fair to Dooyoo, they are quick to scoop up these spammers and put them in the dustbin of life, but that's beyond the point. There is something more integrally dubious to Dooyoo, and that's in the format of the site itself - Dooyoo make money off affiliate links and advertising, pays a little of that back to reviewers who get paid for reviews, completing a self-serving circuit. Nowhere in that equation can I see the initiative to write good quality honest consumer reviews. Consumers are what make the site tick. Without them buying through Dooyoo and visiting the site to bring in traffic, there would be no Dooyoo and no money. Not that high quality honest reviews don't exist - in fact, a very many of them do, I would go so far to say the majority of reviews are - but as a consumer I am wary of the honesty of the fact many reviews, due to the nature of the website, may well be faked to make 60p.

                            Beyond liars, there is also some traits of Dooyoo that go against the grain of consumer need. For example, Dooyoo tends to reward those who write long reviews. As a consumer making an important or expensive purchase, I will read several reviews on an item before mentally correlating the data and making a decision. I do not want to spend 15 minutes reading a 2000-word review. If it contains all relevant data and experience, fair enough, but many are padded out with information, such as irrelevant anecdotes or back-story of a nature I don't care about. Very often shorter reviews contain just the basic facts and relevant experience needed to make a decision, and I am surprised that Dooyoo don't reward express reviews or shorter reviews with their own competition category as I do believe they have an important use.

                            Thirdly, some items just don't need reviews, to be frank. While it is necessary to share negative information e.g. a product that didn't live up to expectations, average reviews of average products seem unnecessary, like towels, balloon holders, baked beans, bic pens, toilet paper... To be honest, if I want to buy a balloon holder I will go to a shop and buy it, I don't need to know anything more than it has weight enough to stop a balloon flying away. Anyway that hypothetical situation is ridiculous, I would just use a rock, and instead of a balloon, a bird. This is how we do things in North Staffordshire.

                            Dooyoo HQ are also a mysterious bunch. Once you start playing what I call "the long game" - writing fewer but longer reviews for crowns, instead of writing shorter, more frequent reviews for instant cash - the likelihood of a crown ascends to the arbitrary. Honestly, they seem random. I know people complain about crowns a lot, personally I think they are great, I just wish they were executed in a simpler way. As it stands it seems like reviews posted on a Tuesday or Monday have a higher likelihood of receiving a crown because whoever reads the nominated reviews (God bless your soul) understandably reads down (or backwards) through their list. This is unfair, date should not factor into it - the reviews with the most nominations should be highest on the list and therefore have more chance. This makes more sense. I am confident everyone reading this is sick of crown talk, so I will leave it there.

                            I enjoy Dooyoo and I have factored it into my life seamlessly - a rate here in between this, a rate there - and I have found it pays for enjoyable work. I have learnt a lot about different things - travel, products, lifestyles - and I have met some great people, as well as introducing friends to the site. I think it could be improved, but I like it here, and I hope to be celebrating another milestone with you all some day. Thanks for reading.

                              I have been a member of dooyoo for just over a month now. I have written 12 reviews, commented on 48 reviews and rated 487 reviews. I have received 325 ratings and 2 crowns. I feel like I have very quickly become addicted. Anyway, I have a few thoughts that I wanted to put out there as a newcomer and see if anyone is interested, and if so if they agree.

                              Reading reviews
                              When I first joined dooyoo, my main reason was to make a little bit of money. However, I was surprised by the quality, detail and personality in the reviews and very quickly got drawn into reading and rating. I don't even think about the money anymore. In fact, I much prefer reading to writing now. I was getting sick of social networks, where everyone writes in hastily thrown together, badly spelt and under-punctuated (or over-punctuated when it comes to exclamation marks!) English. It's so nice to see that some parts of the internet still value correct use of the language. I am really enjoying reading all the opinions on products, some that I have used and some that I have never heard of, but should use. I particularly enjoy the reviews that give me some incite into other people's lives - for some reason it fascinates me. I'm hoping I'm not alone with this.

                              Writing reviews
                              As mentioned above, I prefer reading to writing reviews, and yet here I am writing a review. Furthermore, the stats show that I comment on about 10% of what I read. I hadn't realised how much I like telling other people about my opinions. I had also forgotten how much I enjoy writing for pleasure. This has been magnified 100x when I notice a crown on my page. There has been one added bonus for writing for dooyoo: I have found that when I am writing anything at work, the words come to me much more easily. It's like something has clicked in my brain and I now don't have to try as hard anymore. It's hard to believe that this could happen after after writing just 12 reviews, I could be imagining it, or maybe I just feel less intimidated by writing after getting positive feedback from dooyoo members.

                              The website
                              Generally the layout and navigation of the website is very easy to use, with no annoying pop-ups. My only problem is that I only use dooyoo on a computer when I am writing. I usually read reviews when I am on the go on my phone. The dooyoo website does not lend itself to mobile devices, you need to do a lot of zooming in and out and going back after accidentally selecting the wrong thing. I've lost count of the number of times I've selected "somewhat useful" instead of "nominate for a crown". Fortunately, these can be easily rectified. Anyway, a mobile version of the website would make my life much easier. Or better still, an app. Then I wouldn't have to keep logging in every 5 minutes.

                              Ratings system
                              There are 4 ways to rate a review. Plus the added crown nomination. It seems to me, and I could be wrong, that a lot of members will rate all half-decent reviews as "very useful" and the atrocious ones as "not useful", "somewhat useful" or "useful", depending on how nice they are. At first, I was trying to be nice to everyone, but I have found myself leaning towards using the rating system in a very literal sense. If I have personally found it only "somewhat useful", then I will rate it as such. Some reviews are just a very detailed description of the packaging and it's contents with a couple of lines of personal opinion. Some people may find this very useful, but I don't. I think rating in this way helps to give credit where it's due. However, I must admit, if a review contains limited useful information, but is interesting and witty, I will often rate it higher.

                              Overall, I think dooyoo has a great community feel to it and some very talented and interesting reviewers.
