Disadvantages: very few

I have been a member of Dooyoo for about six months, and having read quite a lot of other people's opinions about the site I thought I would add mine to the pot! The first thing that I have to say is that I love Dooyoo - I love reading other people's reviews and seeing what they have to say- and - I love writing my own. I never knew before I joined Dooyoo that I had so many opinions! I also really appreciate it when people leave me a comment particularly if they seem to have enjoyed what I have written. I also feel that I have made some new friends on the site.

So what is Dooyoo? There does not seem a lot of point explaining to you if you are a member, but if you have stumbled on this, it is a really good website for people to express their opinions about products, current issues or anything they want to.

I think that the majority of people who write on Dooyoo write really well and take a lot of time and thought over what they want to say. However, there do seem to be a small number who seem to think it is a quick way to make money and churn out review after review with the minimum number of words and the minimum amount of words as well. My heart always sinks when scrolling through the newest reviews, a name appears not once or twice, but several times in quick succession. I'm all for new people writing on the site as that will only make it better and help it to grow, but I do think it would be helpful if the number of reviews posted by any one member in say a period of twenty four hours was restricted. In the end, what you tend to notice about these churners is that they seem very prominent for a day or two and then they just disappear!

Just while I am having a grumble, I do get very fed up with people who are happy to write on the site but can't be bothered to read anyone else's. I find it very helpful to be able to click on stats and find out how often they have read other people and then make a decision as to whether I will read theirs! I know I won't be offending anyone by saying this because if you are one of the guilty ones you won't be reading this anyway!

I think the reward system on Dooyoo is really fair. 3 pence for every member read soon adds up and I have been able to do some very useful shopping on Amazon thanks to all you lovely people who have read my reviews! It is frustrating though to see the number of non member reads for which you receive nothing at all. I would love it if there was a lower rate paid for these, even if it was only half a pence. When you are getting over a hundred non member reads these soon add up!

I have read a lot of people writing about Dooyoo crowns and I have to admit that I really don't understand the system at all. I have been lucky to receive a few, and am incredibly chuffed to do so, especially seeing the extra miles in my account. However, I do feel that everything I write is of a similar standard and generally seem to receive the same level of ratings. So my question is why? Why some and not others? It would maybe be good to get a message saying 'you have received a crown because...' Still I'm not knocking them and I don't begrudge anyone their crowns!

It is not long since the Dooyoo site underwent a massive redesign. On the whole it looks good but it is quite off putting that the drop down menus are so sensitive. I also wish I could look on my member page and see at a glance how many reads I have had for each review. I also welcome the new messaging system which is particularly helpful if you want to respond to a comment someone left on a review.

So all in all I am a happy dooyoo member. It is an excellent site to write about what you want, read good reviews from other people and make a few friends at the same time. So if you can do all this and make a little extra at the same time it's got to be good, hasn't it?

Summary: Read, rate, write - that's Dooyoo!

Good review. I've only been on dooyoo a very short time so things like this are very interesting.

Very interesting as I did not really have a clue how dooyoo worked and was not even aware that you got paid or anything..
I'm not very good at writing reviews myself but will make an effort now to log on each day and read any new reviews etc..
Excellent reading !

A good review for any newbie to check out. As for rating the number of reviews I reckon it's a good idea, as is the one suggested by susancarter below. Sam (Internet Guide)
