Advantages: A Great & Very Useful Website.
Disadvantages: None.
The following is my review on Dooyoo in general. I see that quite a few members have done this questionnaire, so I've decided to give it a go.
Please note I have mentioned a few other Dooyoo members in my responses. All of which are positively, but if I've mentioned you and you'll not happy for whatever reason, please feel free to contact me, and I'll remove it.
Q. How did you discover Dooyoo?
I spend a lot on time on Amazon.co.uk, and while there a member mentioned Dooyoo (I can't remember why, or how it came up.) But they said how great it was, so I decided to come over and investigate. The rest as they say - is history.
Q. Why did you join?
Several reasons actually. The most obvious being the lure of the Dooyoo miles, which I could exchange for gift vouchers. But also for the fact that I could review a staggering number of products including household goods, chocolate, food and drink, and magazines, while on Amazon my reviews are limited to the products they sell. I've always enjoyed writing reviews and I figured (correctly) that Dooyoo was the place to expand my horizons and become more experienced.
Q. What was your very first opinion on?
I'm a big fan of the television show House M.D, so it seemed only natural that my first review was on the forth season. My first ever rating (which was a very helpful) came from Dooyoo member "carpe_diem".
Q. Did you find it easy to get the hang of Dooyoo?
Very easy. I found the website well laid out and structured, and I soon found my way about. Anything I needed to know, I either picked up alone the way, or was told by other members. For example "hogsflesh" rightly left a useful comment on my review of Bicentennial Man to say that it was also posted on Amazon. Since then I've added a link on my profile page to my Amazon profile, as well as including a short note on any review that I copy from there to here (so people don't think I'm plagiarising.)
Q. Did you read other opinions before you posted your first one?
No, I posted my first couple of reviews before I read any one else's opinion. I was eager to get started. But soon after I became a member, I soon found myself reading other opinions left right and center.
Q. Do you write no/some/many comments?
I do write some comments. If a review is really good for example, or if I nominated it for a crown, then I'll write a comment saying so. If I strongly agree or strongly disagree with a review, than again I'll write a comment saying so. But in general I don't write many.
Q. When you click on the list of Newest Reviews, do you read your friend's opinion?
Yes. I do definitely look out for new reviews from anybody in my circle of friends, I like to keep up with their reviews. But at the same time, I'll still read and rate a lot of review from both new members and other members that are on the list of newest reviews.
Q. Do you write your opinions in one sitting?
When I first became a member, I did sit at my computer and write a said number of reviews. But these days I tend to stagger my reviews out. I tend to write no more than three a day, to try and make sure they are helpful. I've also started to take my laptop to work, and when I travel so I can work on my reviews when ever I have the time. At the moment I have six reviews half finished on my hard drive, that I will continue to work on.
Q. Do you use a spell check?
Yes, spelling is most likely my greatest academic failing. I always use a spell checker. However anybody who read my review of the Braun Series 7 790cc shaver, may have noticed that I wrote the word compassion when I should have wrote comparison. The member "jo@145" greatfully pointed it out to me, and I have since fixed it. (Maybe I should use two spell checkers).
Q. Do you think you can improve you chances of a crown if you suck up to a guide?
I haven't given it much thought. I do have one crown, on my review of the keyring photo album. But I don't think sucking up to a guide would help. Maybe it looks better if one of your reviews in nominated by a guide, but I can't see how.
Q. Are you a member of a forum or chat room?
I'll chat on Amazon, every now and again, but other than that, no.
Q. What did you do with your spare time before joining Dooyoo?
I've always been a busy person and have never had a great deal of spare time. I tend only to come online when I have nothing else to do, where I would simply browse few various websites.
Q. Does it get to you when members praise or condemn you?
I do enjoy receiving useful or very useful votes. I was also disheartened to receive my only NOT USEFUL vote to date, on my review of the book "The Interesting Bits" when another nineteen members found it either very useful or useful, I did contact the member who rated me, to ask why they found it unhelpful, but alas they never replayed, and strangely enough they haven't wrote or rated a single review since.
Q. What do you wish for the future?
Long life, good health, perhaps another crown or two. An the hope that maybe one day I'll have less than 400 item in my Amazon wish list.
So, that is that. I hope you have enjoyed reading.
Summary: Thanks For Reading.
