Advantages: Great rewards, fab for improving writing skills, nice people

Disadvantages: Addictive - I always find myself reading "just one more review" before I go to bed

OK I've been on Dooyoo a couple of months now, so I thought it was about time I did one of these Dooyoo reviews that keep popping up. Here goes:

Q. How did you discover Dooyoo?

I originally heard about it (like so many other people) on Martin Lewis's Money Saving Expert site, although I didn't think much of it at the time. I stumbled across it a short while later when looking for reviews on the Sequoia Lodge in Disneyland Paris before booking our fast approaching holiday. When I realised what site I was on I had a wee look around before signing up.

Q. Why did you join?

I'm not going to lie, I was lured in by the thought of some extra spending money for our holiday. I did decide I was going to make sure my reviews were going to be of use to people though.

Q. What was your very first opinion on?

Lush Veganese Conditioner. As my regular readers will know I love a lot of Lush products, but this is among my favourites. I'm proud to say that although I didn't receive a huge amount of ratings on this review, all of them were very useful, so this gave me a huge confidence boost to keep writing. I had spent a lot of time writing the review, so it made it worthwhile.

Q. Did you find it easy to get the hang of Dooyoo?

Yes I did. I spend quite a lot of time on the internet, so can navigate my way around most websites, although Dooyoo is quite user friendly anyway.

Q. Did you read other opinions before you posted your first one?

Yes. As I mentioned I read ones on our hotel before booking, but I also read a few on the Veganese Conditioner before posting my own one, just to make sure I hadn't missed anything out and to ensure that I wasn't just repeating things that had already been said.

Q. Do you write no/some/many comments?

I comment to ask questions if I'm interested in a product being reviewed. I also comment to say if there's something missing, or if I agree or disagree with particular points made in the review or sometimes just a comment on my personal experience of the item. I don't comment on every review, but a fair few I think. I don't like to write a comment saying I've nominated someone. I don't really see the point.

Q. When you click on the list of Newest Reviews, do you read your friend's opinion?

I don't have a particular way of reading the Newest Reviews. I start at the top and if a new member has posted 5 reviews in the space of an hour I don't read their reviews. If there is a product I'm interested in I will read it and yes, if there's someone there I recognise I will generally read at least one of their reviews too. I wont bypass everyone elses to read my friends reviews though and I don't usually go past the first page of newest reviews. I just don't have the time.

Q. Do you write your opinions in one sitting?

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I'm a busy mum to 3 children, so at times it's a lot harder than at others. I sometimes write reviews out on paper first and go back to it several times in the day. One thing I have noticed though is that the reviews I have received crowns for are the ones that have taken me the least time and effort (with the exception of my Huggies Wipes review) and have mostly been done in one sitting, typed straight onto Dooyoo.

Q. Do you use a spell check?

No, I think my spelling is pretty accurate and if there's a word I'm writing that I have doubts about I ask my sister if she's here (she almost always is) and if she isn't or if she doesn't know, I will look it up on an online dictionary. I always proof read my reviews before posting them too as I find I sometimes type the wrong word. The spellchecker wouldn't pick it up because I still type a real word, but it doesn't make sense. I've noticed this happens quite a lot from reading other peoples reviews aswell.

Q. Do you think you can improve you chances of a crown if you suck up to a guide?

I don't know how you could possibly suck up to a guide? So, no, I don't think it would make a difference.

Q. Are you a member of a forum or chat room?

Yes, I'm a member of quite a few parenting forums, although don't use half of them.

Q. What did you do with your spare time before joining Dooyoo?

I tend to be on the internet once the kids are in bed anyway and before finding Dooyoo I would usually be entering competitions. I probably spend more time on here during the day now than I did before, when I should be doing housework.

Q. Does it get to you when members praise or condemn you?

No. Of course it feels good if people say I've written a great review. I don't think I've been condemned yet. I think most people on here offer constructive criticism rather than telling people they can't write. I think it's great that members of Dooyoo will do that and help other members to improve their reviews.

Q. What do you wish for the future?

World peace ;) Nah seriously, to improve and become a better writer naturally without having to work so hard at it would be nice, some more crowns would be a bonus.

Non Dooyoo related would be good health and happiness for my family (pretty obvious really), a good christmas and a good holiday in January.

Summary: A great website, so glad I found it.

I've also found that the reviews I've written in a shorter space of time and all in one go are more likely to get crowned that the ones that I spend hours planning, writing and editing beforehand! Very bizarre x

I find it's good to write reviews in Word first anyway in case DooYoo/Ciao crashes!
