Advantages: A good site that we all enjoy.
Disadvantages: none
I came across Dooyoo quite by accident, the sites name was mentioned on another site I was using at the time. I have just read that Dooyoo was advertised on Radio 5, a surprise to me, but you learn something everyday.
Dooyoo have masses of categories all with things waiting to be reviewed. I tend to review things that I buy in the supermarket so maybe my reviews aren't that exciting.
In hindsight it is rather difficult to get excited over a jar of jam.
When I rate I enjoy to look at the new reviews, ones that have an element of humour attached to them hold great appeal for me.
Indeed I have read some wonderfully clever reviews, constructed with absolute precision.
There are some members names that I always look out for, I know their reviews will be interesting and detailed.
I will be totally honest, I am no Chaucer (Good job really!) or Shakespeare, I joined Dooyoo to see if I could manage to complete a few half decent reviews so that the money earned could be put towards my birthdays and Christmas funds.
At first my reviews were short and sweet and now I recognise that they were far too short...maybe around the 200 word mark.
Now I try to write around 600 words to make the review worth reading.
The rating system is still a bit of a mystery to me, if I rate some reviews as being just useful that seems to indicate that I am revenge rating. In fact I don't see why anyone should be too worried about a useful rating (though most I do rate Very Useful)
it is the SU and the NU that may cause concern.
I have read that each rating earns us 1.5p, so I take that as read.
I can clearly see where the ratings are a cause for concern, but unless the hierarchy step in and change the system there is very little that can be done.
The Rewards system is good and very fair. Add the time of writing a review to the time spent reading and rating others and it still works out well. Although some of the outstanding reviews take quite a while to read through.
I can honestly understand people losing patience with the 150 word limit, I have now changed tactics im afraid, if I see a review listed in the new reviews that has the basic 150 or so words I bypass it, I move on until I find one that is worthy of reading.
Some Dooyooers must spend ages writing hundreds of words, phrasing them eloquently only to find that they gain no more than a member who chooses to write just a tiny paragraph.
Again this is something that only Dooyoo can change, either by rewarding those who write so well in some form, or upping the 150 word limit.
Churners? I used to think you put milk in them.
As I have seen someone else remark, I see little harm in writing a few reviews a day, but that is only if they are reviews that merit the 50p review payment, if they don't then Dooyoo should reserve the right to withhold payment. There must be many families that are running tight to the bone at the moment and any opportunity to earn a little extra must be welcome.
I'm happy to sit here and write about my supermarket purchases and as time goes on I hope that my writing will improve.
I would hate to see Dooyoo disappear, I would miss trying to earn that little extra money and I would miss the interest.
So lets hope that all of this sorts itself out amicably and that Dooyoo continues to thrive.
Summary: A good review site that we all enjoy.

- 18/01/09 You actually get pad for member reads and not rates so if someone reads your review but does not bother to rate you still get 15 miles |

- 17/01/09 I don't think the Dooyooers that spend ages writing their reviews will ever find that they gain no more than the members that only write a paragraph or so. There are extra rewards for crowns which the latter will rarely, if ever achieve and also if their reviews don't improve, people will stop reading/rating them.
Glad you're enjoying Dooyoo though, from what I've read you write as well as many here. |

- 17/01/09 Sensible stuff and you write well enough for me. I would not worry if people get narky about Useful rates. I SU loads of reviews. The system is there for you to be honest. |
