Advantages: A really good scheme, lovely community feeling!

Disadvantages: Revenge ratings D:

I have to admit that the idea of Dooyoo didn't appeal to me at first. I thought it would be like one of those survey websites where you register your details and then hear from them out of the blue six months down the line. I had also used Ciao and hadn't had a great experience on there at all so was initially sceptical that this website would be any better. However, people were recommending it to me and saying how great it was so I figured I had nothing to lose.

Seven months later and I'm still here!

The pro's of this website would be that there really is a fantastic community feel or spirit (call it what you will, you know what I mean!) About 98% of the people on here are helpful, kind and considerate; they won't just mark you down for no reason nor will they mark you up when the review is blatantly a bit rubbish! I felt welcomed into this little online community and have had no issues with any other members on here thus far.

The website itself is easy to navigate and the rating system is easy (maybe not always fair but definitely easy). Being able to find simple things on the page with ease is a blessing and I think the web-designer of Dooyoo definitely deserves props for what they've done. Okay, it might not be flash or pretty but it's effective!

Finally I love how easy it is to get paid. While I can't rave on about this from my own personal experiences (as I only redeemed some points for Amazon vouchers last week and am still waiting!), people join this site and then remain here. Considering this and the positive feedback about the payment system in place, I can only comment on this in a positive light.

I suppose a con of this site is the so-called 'revenge rating' habits that seem to have developed. While it hasn't personally happened to me (as far as I'm aware anyway), I have seen it happen and I just find it absurd that adults can't accept a little criticism about a review. It adds a negative dimension to a lovely little website and could just potentially stop people from joining here.

Also, the system of being awarded a Crown just seems bizarre. I'm not quite sure how they (whoever they are) decides how the Crowns are awarded after nomination but some guidelines would be helpful to promote better reviews being written. Just a thought though.

I've really enjoyed my time on here so far and hopefully will continue to enjoy coming to this site. Reading reviews and receiving positive feedback about my reviews keeps this site addictive and helpful, and I hope you guys all have fun reading through my reviews as well :)

Summary: Thrilled to be part of this site.

I think the guidelines they already give are ok where ever I've seen them but sometimes exceptional pieces that don't really follow them can still get crowns. There's just no one way of doing it. Concise reviews with plenty of opinion and with added personality do do well with crowns though.

Oh, I know that the crown rewardal system is both objective and subjective; my point is more that if people had a benchmark to reach if they wanted to be rewarded more then it could only benefit the reviews being submitted :) I mean, there are guidelines in place but they're pretty open to interpretation. Not that that is a bad thing mind!

I think it would be diffcult to offer guidelines on getting a crown because otherwise you'll end up with a certain 'type' of review winning. At the moment, the system caters reasonably well for a variety of styles and tastes.
