Advantages: You talk about stuff you like or hate, and they give you money!!!!!1
Disadvantages: not much
Dooyoo is quite possibly my favourite thing about the Internet. Not only does it allow me to make money, but I also get to give out about stuff on a grand scale. My dream come true. A fellow Dooyooian, who has asked to remain anonymous for tax purposes, invited me to join Ciao. I did so, I felt bad about it, I’d never strayed from Dooyoo before. But my interest didn’t lie there long, for Ciao pales in comparison to Dooyoo. It didn’t have the accessibility or broad topic lines that I would associate with my beloved site. It was also monopolized by the well established members, the newer ones standing no chance. Here at Dooyoo we have it lucky, we can write on most subjects, and we can expect that if we write good ops we’ll get more reads. Of course there are problems, the well established members can expect to churn out anything and a bucket load of VU and a few nominations. Thankfully this doesn’t affect the less prolific members, who will get reads if some effort is put in. Recently though, there has been a lot of terrible ops by new members. I don’t mean they were just badly written, but they just went along the lines of this is good, ,I love it, or this is bad, I hate it, except ,of course, using about seventy five words. And not enough people are reporting this kind of thing, or at least telling the person that a bit more substance is expected. Dooyoo is more than just a site for discussing music tastes, serious issues are discussed, like what should have been done with Jamie Bolger’s killers. Some brilliantly written and constructed opinions are written everyday on every subject, and we get to read these and then offer our views through the comments system. It is a bit annoying though when you get a read and you don’t know what it’s for. My good friend Shane Cahill suggested that a list of what’s been read should come up when you log in. The money
is certainly an attractive prospect, but sharing your views with potentially hundreds of people is what keeps us all here
