Advantages: Great concept, Freedom of speech

Disadvantages: Not a 'get rich quick' scheme!

I joined Dooyoo in January this year (hence my username 2101, 21st January- isn't that interesting... :-) )- since that time, I've kept coming back- and adding opinions.

Whether you like Dooyoo or not, depends upon what you're looking for. If you love having your say on things, voicing your opinion- or you like being part of a community- yep- you'll love Dooyoo.

However, many people join with the illusion that Dooyoo is a 'get rich quick' scheme. It isn't. I've earned £30 since I joined- from over 75 opinion. I know others have earned a lot more- but I think it depends on luck.

I always write my own opinions, after doing a bit of research- and I always make them as detailed as I feel necessary (there's no point in writing an opinion 2000 words long, if it isn't to the point or useful!)- therefore, writing these ops has taken some time- and if I wanted easy money- I'd have failed. However, if I see it as an added bonus from doing something I enjoy- it's great!

In this opinion, I will mention a lot of what I've experienced at Dooyoo. I think, since joining- I've learnt a lot about what people like to read- and what will be popular- however I've only ever earned one crown- which is a bit disappointing.

So, here are my tips for getting the most out of Dooyoo- please add any others you can think of to the comments section. I'm definitely not a Dooyoo guru- but I hope that my advice will be of some use.

1) Writing a Good Opinion.

I am also a member of Ciao.com (although I prefer Dooyoo). Recently, a member told me off, because one of my opinions was ONLY 200-300 words (minimum is 120 on Ciao, 75 on Dooyoo). However, as the saying goes-
'it's quality not quantity'.

The best opinions, ar5e all ove
r 200 words long- and don't expect many reads if it's shorter.

However, being brief can be a huge advantage. I know I don't want to trawl through 5000 words to find that only the last sentence is of any use. Therefore, make sure your opinion is TO THE POINT.
Remember, if your opinion gets boring by the second or third paragraph- people may get bored, and miss the wonders elsewhere in the opinion.

Below, is what I see as the most useful format for an opinion to take:

INTRODUCTION
2 or 3 sentences summing up what the opinion's about, and any useful background information.

YOUR EXPERIENCE
A short narrative of how you experienced the product or service, and what you felt- don't ramble on.

ADVANTAGES
Summarize good points- bullet points are useful.

DISADVANTAGES
Same as advantages- only disadvantages.
ALWAY TRY TO WRITE SOMETHING GOOD AND BAD

SUMMARY
Who is the product good for- would you buy/use it?

Actual facts and figures can also be useful- as can links to relevant websites. However, don't link to your own site- people see it as cheesy advertising- and try and put all your links at the end of the opinion- so people won't leave it half-way through.

2)WHAT TO WRITE ABOUT?

Obviously, whatever you want- however, if you're aiming for the most reads try-

-Areas where there isn't already an opinion eg. I was first to write an opinion on T-Motion- and that was very popular.

-Remember, people on Dooyoo have things in common- therefore, reviews on computers, for example, are likely to be popular.

3)TITLE

This is SOOO important- choose a boring title, and nobody will read the op.

Try to use a rhetorical question- as they seem to do well.

Also, controversial titles are popular- even if people only click them to disagree- they'll be popular e.g.

'IS Brand
X The Worst Washing Powder in The World?'

Finally, keep titles short and catchy.

4)WHEN& HOW OFTEN SHOULD I WRITE?

You always get the most reads in the first few minutes an opinion is written. This is due to the fact it's promoted on the homepage, as a new opinion.
Most users are on in the early evening- therefore- you might get more visits- but you're opinion will only be on the homepage for a few seconds. If you write at 3.30pm, there might be fewer users- but, overall your op will get the same no. of reads as it will be on the homepage for the same length of time.

Overall, I don't think time really matters- although I'd avoid 1am-6am, as there aren't many people online- except dedicated Dooyooers, who often write a lot of opinions- but won't read yours.

How often then? I don't think this really matters- but don't write more than 5 in a day- as you'll be branded a 'churner'- and people will ignore your opinions- however good they are.

Overall, quality is key- whether you write one a day, or one a month.

5)HOW DO I GET OTHERS TO READ MY OPS?

-Add people to your circle of friends, rate other's opinions, and comment on other's opinions.

-Try to be positive- and NEVER give a 'not useful' without explaining why!

Overall, the more you interact with other users, the more they will tend to read your opinions.
