Disadvantages: Too Addicting? Some Unfriendly Communities
I am a member of many online forums and messageboards, and they can make up websites themselves as they are a fantastic way of sharing ideas and thoughts, giving and receiving help or advice as well as general chat about hobbies. All forums are of a similar format but look different. You must usually register to use forums, which requires some simple information such as your name, email address, a username and password.
I am a member of gamefaqs.com, which is one of the best sites for forums. They are in association with gamespot as they're owned by them. You can get help on the forums about games as well as share your ideas and feelings. You can meet people through the forums nowadays to play with them online using services such as Xbox Live or Nintendo Wifi. The forums here have quite a friendly atmosphere and the administrators control any rule-breakers pretty well.
My favourite forum site has to be thestudentroom.co.uk as they contain so many forums on all topics for students. Most the students on the site are doing their A levels but you also get ones doing GCSEs as well as ones at University. You can get help for your subjects in the study help forums. You can also get advice for a range of other things including health and relationships, fitness, beauty and many more such as technology. The forums contain more specific forums such as ones for gaming, mobile phones and computers within the technology forums. You can even get help for personal statements through the site, which are a part of the university UCAS application procedure.
There are other forums all over the Internet but these are a couple of my favourite. You will find forums on all major websites such as for Apple products as well as on xbox.com. Forums aren't like instant messaging but people can reply as soon as you post a thread. You usually title your thread and can sometimes put a symbol next to it, which shows next to the title on the thread list. They are really useful and I don't know what the Internet would be without them!
Thanks for reading,

Summary: An excellent Internet feature, which is really useful
