Advantages: Helps me to save money.

Disadvantages: Can take up a lot of your time.

My top websites for this christmas. With the credit crunch going on, I've had to cut back on spending. The websites that I am about to recommend are not really the 'great' websites to visit for christmas presents. More rather, these have been the top websites I've been using this christmas as they have helped to save and stop me spending more money elsewhere.

Hotmail.com

I have to use this everyday to check my e-mails. All the promotional offers come through here too. I have over 1400 unread alerts from Dooyoo and Ciao - I am serious about this. Strange enough though I'm not really that behind with the return rates, as I catch up on the main website itself...better start some deleting soon...

Google.com

Another one I have to use everyday for searches etc. Probably the best out the all the search engines. I find that it gives out more relevant results than the others.

Yahoo.co.uk

This was my home page from many years ago, still haven't bothered to change it. So I visit unintentionally everytime I turn on the PC. It has a lot of interesting news headlines though.

Dooyoo.co.uk

Come on this is pretty obvious, and I don't even have to spend any money on here, well, with the exception of the electricity bill.

Ciao.co.uk

I normally post everything I've done on Dooyoo to transfer on here - free pennies, why complain?

Boots.com.

Whether there is a financial crisis going on or not, I still have to get my basic toiletries essentials. Boots.com isn't actually the cheapest, in fact, quite a lot of their items are at the full RRP prices, if not, it is often a little more. However, in order to benefit from getting greater value for your money, they offer a bonus loyalty card system, where you can earn points for every time you spend and each of those points is worth a penny. However, you only earn 4 points for every pound you spend and it's obvious that it will take forever before you earn enough points to exchange them for anything. This is where Boots.com comes in; every so often they will advertise special promotional days where you can earn 1000 points just by spending something like a minimum f £50. These points will be on top of the other points you accrue through your spending. Also, if you time your online shopping when they are also doing BOGOF or 3 for 2 offers etc. you can save even more. So far, I've managed to accrue thousands of points through this, and on average I do end up saving more and paying less for the items that I otherwise would have to be buying at full price.

Moneybackmadness.co.uk

A cashback site with daily clicks; There are quite a lot of these, but I find this is the most interesting one with the most daily clicks, and therefore more money. It also has a lot of retailers, although unfortunately, the ones I shop at are not included there.

Amazon.co.uk

Obviously, I have to spend my Dooyoo vouchers here, but it also stops me from parting from any cash (if I have enough in vouchers). A place where there catalogue is vast and continuing to expand. Can also list all my old books to sell on here.

King.com.

Not really too happy with this site, when I have to part with my cash that is...not very easy to win money on here when you're crap at the games (i.e. that's me). But anyway, every christmas they do an advent freeroll - everyday there is a free game to play, and it's possible to get a few pence out of it. Besides this, there is also a general freeroll everyday and three free games to play on Fridays (although this has stops during December to give way to the advent freeroll) so there are potentially a few pennies or pounds to be gained. Another one that you can use without parting with any cash.

Onepoll.co.uk;

A tedious was to earn some extra pennies, but also very addictive. You earn around 10p for each short survey you complete. It's very easy to sign up and get started. You don't screened out for any of the surveys and they only take a few minutes of time to complete. There's no 'earn 10p for this survey which takes 'only' 30 minutes of your time' kind of thing.

For me, these websites are going to make my christmas a bit more financially interesting. Hope they will for you too.

Thanks for reading. xx

I've always been very suspicious of survey sites. I've always suspected them of being a source for retailers to use to identify anyone that they can spam with "Buy Me" emails.
