Advantages: I visit them every day...

Disadvantages: I visit them every day...

Mmmmmmmmmmm..an interesting thing to review or recommend. Considering the amount of time I spend on the Internet, I thought this would be easy but it took a while...

Anyway, here goes.

In no particular order, these are the sights I visit every day.

10. Diabetes.co.uk.

A bit self-indulgent this one and obviously not of interest to everyone. I recommend anyone takes a quick look as it is a textbook example of how to host a lively online community. The forum members are friendly and always willing to answer a question.

9. Trekmovie.com

Oh dear. Self-indulgency strikes again. I am a total Trekkie (I even don't mind the word) and this site keeps me up to date on all that is happening in the world of Star Trek.

8. Facebook.com

Like it or loath it, it certainly is popular. I generally ignore the annoying games and applications and use it to keep in touch with all my friends who are literally all over the world. I know a lot of people worry about personal privacy but there are plenty of controls that will allow you to limit what you want to show and what you don't. We all have a brain folks. If you are sensible, this is a wonder of the modern age and an example of what is RIGHT about the Internet.

7. Aint It Cool News.

The funnest and most informative film news web site there is. The talkbacks can be kind of annoying but they are totally uncensored, just the way they should be. Harry Knowles is a legend of the internet and friend of the famous. If you want to read movie stuff first and read honest reviews, click your way to http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com

6. Digital Spy.

The latest TV, Celeb and Media news. Some of it is nonsense and if you are not a fan of "Heat Magazine", you might find it all a bit lightweight. Updated 24 hours a day and great to read over a coffee break at work if they allow that sort of thing! http://www.digitalspy.co.uk

5. DooYoo.com.

I am now addicted after only being on here a few weeks. I hardly need to explain it you if you are reading this do I?

4. Youtube.com

Another coffee break favourite. If its been on Tv/Film/Video, its on here. It might be cut into 10 minute chunks but it's here. Think of it, search for it, watch it.

3. Amazon.co.uk

My christmas comes from Amazon and has done for the last 5 years. Unbelievable deals if you look hard enough. It still can't beat browsing through a good bookshop but there is no reason you can't do both. The internet at it's best.

2. Lifehacker.com

Hard to describe but hard to forget. A magazine/blog about literally everything and anything geeky. From how to build a cheap dock for you Ipod out of a fag packet to how to make the perfect latte to how to get the most out of Microsoft Excel. Feed the geek inside you.

1. Google.co.uk

I use it all the time, almost every waking hour. Search for web sites, image & maps. Free Email and online applications. People used to say they would "search" for something online. These days people say they "google" for something online. There is a good reason for this.

Special mentions...

11. Wikipedia.

Don't take anything on here too seriously as it is written by it's users but it is still fun and interesting.

12. Ebay / Paypal

I used to be addicted but not any more. You can make a good living as a seller if you work hard enough. You can also find anything you ever wanted if you are a buyer.

Summary: This is where I spend a lot of my life...:-)

Interesting to see the differences between Male and Female Top 10s . Females appear more social men more practical hobby based. Sure a Psychologist would have a field day analysing these lists
