Top Ten Websites
Advantages: I try to have a variety of different websites to visit, to stop me getting bored.
Disadvantages: Not everyone will agree with my choices!
I do a lot of browsing the internet in my spare time, and so whilst browsing the reviews on dooyoo, I found this "Top Ten Websites" review. Knowing that I will now have to try and whittle down my favourite and most frequently visited websites, I thought this would give me not only something to do, but also give me a challenge! So, here are my top ten most frequented websites!
Yes, I know this is probably making an appearance in a lot of people's lists. Seeing as I am a Uni graduate, I have got a lot of friends I made at University who are now all over the world. I use Facebook as it is the easiest way to keep in touch with them all, as well as find out what they've all been up to. I'll admit I'll be a bit lost without it due to this reason!
I love being creative, and use deviantART to display my photography, literature, drawing and crafts I have attempted at some point or another. I also moderate several groups, including NintyFans, a 3,000 strong Nintendo fan base which is growing by the day! I love getting feedback on my work, and finding out that there are a lot of people on the internet who have taken a look on my page and enjoyed what I have put up. If you are wondering what my deviantART is, and want to take a look for yourself, my link is: http://monsoon-baby.deviantart.com
I started using Tumblr late in 2010, and find it is a great way to kill time when I cannot think of anything to do. Tumblr is a blogging website, where you can essentially use your own Tumblr blog as a reflection on your interests, news that has interested you, promotion, and more. I find that Tumblr helps me to expand on my interests, and I've picked up a lot of new ones along the way. Beware though, this site can be terribly addictive, so I do try to give myself a time limit whenever I decide to log in. My Tumblr page is http://monsoonbaby.tumblr.com
Twitter is a status posting social networking site, that allows you to post up news in less than 150 words. I enjoy giving quick bursts of news to all my followers, as well as checking up on what the people I follow are doing. Here you can follow plenty of your favourite celebs, including top UK Twitter users, Simon Pegg, Jonathan Ross and Stephen Fry.
Writing has always been one of my passions, and I was thrilled when a friend recommended DooYoo to me. Here I am able to indulge in one of my biggest hobbies, as well as read and rate reviews of hundreds of other people. I find it a pleasure to be here, and earning crowns has really spurred on my inspiration to continue writing, so I thank every single one of you who has nominated me, send me encouraging comments and given me fair and decent ratings!
Towards the end of 2010 my FiancÚ introduced me to the world of board gaming. I had already been a self-confessed console game geek (Nintendo was my forte in particular), but I had never really ventured into playing many board games, other than the typical Monopoly, which I found particularly dull anyway. BoardGameGeek has allowed me to broaden my board gaming spectrum, and through this site I have found some excellent games that I have indulged in with friends, family and my FiancÚ. It is also another great site to showcase your writing skills, as they allow you to write gaming session reports, write reviews, or even create your own board games.
7. Explosm (Cyanide & Happiness)
Cyanide & Happiness is a web comic that perhaps is not for everyone. The jokes can be a little offensive or bad taste at times, but I find the majority of these comics hilarious. If I need to be cheered up with a quick chuckle, or am struggling with what to do, I often open up Explosm and head straight to the Cyanide & Happiness comics!
The Internet Movie Database is home to thousands upon thousands of films, TV shows, games and other entertainment, which you can access via searching for a particular title, or through browsing the site in it's many ways. As a huge film buff, I use IMDb to keep a record of how many films I have watched, and rate them out of ten. It is a handy thing to do when you are stuck on what film to put on, as you can access your list and find something out of your top rated for example. So if you are a huge film lover, this site is a must!
I find Amazon is one of the best websites for purchasing things online. Now that I own a Kindle, I find I frequent this website a lot more, to check out the newest books available for this excellent little piece of technology. I also highly prefer online shopping over shopping in an actual store, and so I get a lot of presents, and bits and pieces through this website. I also occasionally treat myself to an Amazon voucher out of my DooYoo miles, so I have to like it really!
As well as writing for DooYoo, I find I go on Ciao a fair bit too, although in all honesty, I prefer DooYoo a lot more (it seems a lot friendlier for one). As I really enjoy writing, I try to visit Ciao whenever I can to post up a few of my reviews, and rate other peoples.
Well, that is my list. There were more that I could have added, but these are the sites I find myself visiting the most whenever I am on the internet. I hope you all enjoy my selections!
Summary: My top ten combines social networking with creativity, shopping and more!
