Advantages: Really good community spirit
Disadvantages: You dont always find the answer you were hoping for
I stumbled across Yahoo answers by accident I was just surfing & I clicked on something & it just popped up & I must say I am very glad it did.
It is easy to sign up to you just need to think of an id & a password. You can also choose a head, which is easy they give you lots of different options to choose from & you can design it around yourself or you can choose to look like something completely different. I choose short brown hair dark eyes & a pair of specs to look intelligent looks nothing like me but was a bit of fun to design.
Once you have signed up you can have a look at the main board where there is a list of all the recent open questions. It changes in every click there are that many people using it.
Yahoo answers is a great fun way to communicate with people as there is a real community feel you can email people via the message button, pm people through the messenger or just write fun messages on peoples questions. A lot of people don’t always write serious answers to the questions but that is the whole fun of it.
There are 3 different sections to yahoo answers.
ASK – Which is where you type your question & decide which subject it needs to be put under. There is a spell checker on there, which makes it very useful so you don’t have to write o word & transfer.
ANSWER-Is where you can click on to all the questions that need answering with 0 replies. You click on them & answer if you think you can help or just want to make a comment.
DISCOVER- This is where all the questions that have been closed are so if you have a popular question you can see if it has already been posted & what the results were.
Yahoo makes things a little fun by giving points to people who answer questions you get 2 for every answer & minus 5 for every question you ask. You don’t get anything for the points but it is just like ciao community points just something to show you are a regular user & part of the community.
You can make an extra 10 points if your answer is chosen as being the best which is quite nice to get especially when a lot of people reply.
You can also rate how helpful peoples answers are but only if you make enough points to reach level 2 which can take a while.
You get a very mixed bag of questions like
“What does tesco mean?”
“Website name suggestions?”
“Is honey a real alternative to sugar?”
“I sent a letter via airmail to Turkey from UK how long should it take?”
“How do I remove chewing gum/hard putty? From a window pane?”
I asked a few questions including “is it worth being an Avon rep?” & I got 27 replies. I also asked “Is it wrong to be with someone who can support you financially for the rest of your life?” & got 34 answers. However I did ask, “Has anyone been an air stewardess?” but only got 4 replies & they were all a load of rubbish so that wasn’t very good. I have seen a lot of people get some good answers to questions it is definitely a website worth a look. Let me know if anyone tries it out or is already a member.
Summary: def worth a go
