Disadvantages: A great way to destroy your business, waste time and lose investments.

123-reg.co.uk is not and never has been an acreditted registrar for .eu domain names. In spite of this they advertised pre-registration in 2002 and continue to offer registration. I pre- registered 12 URL's in 2002. Not one was registered. All email, letter and telephone communications have been blanked. All 12 are now registerered to people in the US, Australia or to my competitors. This was not only false advertising, but having taken money in good faith knowing that they had no ability to fulfill a contract, fraudulent. Eventually through their 50p a minute "support" line and 4 years later I got the response "sorry our systems don't work, but we will give you a refund"!

Summary: 123-reg.co.uk is not a .eu registrar - be warned
