I use 123-Reg for registering all of our .uk domain names and have never had any problem with them to date. Personally I've needed to contact them so I can't comment on their customer service but I expect that with their pricing it is as to be expected. The control panel isn't bad but could be improved if you have several domains like we do, to make things quicker. Pricing is very good for .uk domain names especially. I've never registered a .com with them. You can keep control of your own DNS settings so that you can use whichever web and email host you like etc. I've noticed that DNS changes sometimes take a while to update, but to be fair it is quite reasonable and probably needed to keep the service up without any problems. Overall I would recommend them to anyone who asked me.

Stay away from 123-reg!!
Impossible to contact them over the phone regarding an Auth Code I requested. I am spending a fortune on the phone waiting to speak to someone. I called several time impossible to get through but I got cut off several times!!!!!!!!

Customer support is absolute rubbish. Transferring a domain away from them is an absolute nightmare. They effectively have you over a barrel because before you can transfer they need to provide you with an authorisation code for your new registrar. I registered a domain name with 123reg yesterday morning (21st May) and was expecting it to be up and running by now. Should I be concerned or am I just being impatient? I keep checking, but it defaults to the 120reg website....

Anyone know if this is normal?

Great service when all runs smoothly but absolutely awful when something goes wrong! Technical support is really slow to respond. Uploaded web files via ftp to their server and web DNS settings were re-set to show the 123 splash page. Don't use them. Terrible customer service. Lame responses, if any, that merely ask you to repeat what you have already said. Often emails are replied to by different people, out of sequence.
