When I decided that I wanted a website in January 2001 I looked at a lot of web hosts but didn't have a clue what I needed and what all those technical terms meant describing the different services on offer. I'm still a bit dodgy with technical terms so this opinion has to be simplified enough for me to understand what I'm writing about. My lack of understanding and Yorkshire common sense told me to look for a good free host and learn my needs while I went along rather than confusing myself by trying to figure it all out beforehand. If you feel confident enough to unleash your web design skills onto the world then there are numerous free web hosts dotted around that will offer you free web space, a free (branded) domain name and possibly some e-mail space. 20m www.20m.com offer as the name might suggest 20 mb of webspace, free e-mail and a fairly good statistics package. However, what is slightly different about 20m is that they offer a probably what has to be the shortest domain name for a free host, an example being, www.mystampcollection.20m.com. After losing patience with free host Dreamwater (see my other op) I embarked on the unwanted journey to find another free web host for my site. I felt quite frustrated at the thoughts of this because I knew how long I had taken me to find one I thought was good. However – I guess some of that initial searching paid of because this time I was more clued up on terminology and my needs for my site. To try and cut out some of the hassle I went over to http://www.100best-free-web-space.com/ and had a look at the sites reviewed there.
