Advantages: Helping you to achieve goals, make new friends
Disadvantages: None
You may well have seen 43things and thought what exactly is the point in writing a list of 43things you want to do?
Well it is actually a proven fact that when you write a to do list it helps you to achieve things. A lot of us probably have a to do list for the week at work. And how good do you feel at the end of the week when you can look at it finally finished or at least dramatically reduced? Why not use that same principal for your everyday life goals?
43things.com is basically speaking a to do list for life. But with lots of interesting features.
The site is really easy to use with an attractive but basic layout. Registration takes around five minutes, they ask you basic questions such as name, username, email, password, date of birth. Then you are ready to get listing...
The homepage of the site tells you that there are currently over 1 million goals being achieved through 43things.com, that is a lot of users on the site from all over the world. You can look at the range of goals on home page, from simple things such as making a list of all the things that make you happy to the big things like walk part of the Great Wall of China.
As well as listing your goals, you can also add entries about your goals and how you are doing, in a blog style fashion. I think this helps you in getting on with your goals as when you log into the site you can see your list and even if it only seems like a small thing to your big goals you can add it to your entries - if your goal is to save money to buy a house (One of my own there) and you added even a small amount maybe 25 pounds to your savings account - add it to the amount and you will see the total increasing. It's amazingly satisfying!
As well as your own goals, you can also view others goal either by goal or if you know it by username. I personally like the fact that you can cheer other people's goals, as well as them being able to cheer yours if they think it's cheer worthy.
And last but not least, when you complete a goal you are asked to answer a few questions. You are asked if it was worth it, how you did it, how long it took you to complete and how it made you feel. You do see some surprising answers to these questions. But there are also some great pieces of advice on how to achieve your goals from people who have been there and done it.
I would reccomend this site to anyone who has goals they want to achieve but sometimes needs a kick to get started and maybe another one when they start to flag a little bit. A fantastic way to keep an eye on your achievements. And the interactive side of the site is a great way to get a little more motivation if it's needed, especially if see yet another person completing that goal you have been striving for. Most of us have a bit of competitiveness inside us somewhere :)
Summary: A fantastic way of helping you to achieve your life goals
