5minutesaway.co.ukNewest Review: ... easy and quick to use. I think it’s good for finding places near to the motorway that aren’t actually service stations (and therefore grossly overpriced); it shows you that you don’t have to go far off the motorway to enjoy a more pleasurable (and cheaper) stop. Thumbs up. Further Information Visit the website and have a look www.5minutesaway.co.uk You can contact them by ... more |

I recently discovered this site whilst using the Internet to plan a journey for a weekend away; it’s a good idea and worth a visit if you’re using motorways on a long journey and want to plan breaks or where you can fill up with petrol. What is it? 5minutesaway.co.uk provides details of facilities and services 5 minutes away (or 3 miles) from every motorway junction. Obviously this would be most handy to have whilst on the move, but it’s handy for planning stops before you go. It is aimed at providing details of ‘quick’ stops i.e. for a bite to eat, the loo etc… rather than sightseeing along the way. The ... Read the complete review

5minutesaway.co.uk is an interesting site which could prove pretty useful to anyone who has a WAP enabled mobile phone...or anyone who plans their journeys well. Its basically a site which enables you to find motorway services and things to do within 5 minutes or three miles of a particular motorway junction. Well then, not the most exciting site in the world but if you are on th motorway and dying for a pee, or looking for a place to eat, then you can find the best using your WAP phone, and without going too far out of your journey's way. Great! The site is well laid out, simply a list of motorways on the left and a large screen for displaying the map and ... Read the complete review

5minutesaway.co.uk is a great site that provides you with the locations of facilities and attractions within 5 minutes or 3 miles of most motorway junctions. The aim of the site is to avoid us getting ripped of at the over-priced motorway service areas. In a nutshell, you click on the motorway you'll be travelling on (or indeed are travelling on if you use the internet on the move), then on the junction number you are going to stop at, and up pops a list of types of amenities. Choose what type of amenity you want, and you get a list of locations, directions, etc. OK, so lets consider it in a bit more detail. When you first load the site, you get directed to ... This site is one that I’d advise keeping an eye on if you are a frequent traveler. It’s showing great potential as a resource to not only serve the customer, but at the very same time take away the foot hold that strategically placed (and as considered by many, over priced) motorway service restaurants have on the British motorway network. The site, 5minutesaway.co.uk (also at .com), aims to give you information about services that are just 5 minutes (or 3 miles) away from a given junction on a motorway. Not just service stations, but all sorts of places for travelers to stop off. The homepage ------------------ The ... Read the complete review

It's tough to know who long journeys are harder on, the drivers or the passengers. Most drivers would claim that having to spend the whole time concentrating on the road is hard work, but at least it's not as boring as sitting in your seat for hours looking out of the window. Looking out of the window can be even worse as you drive down the motorway, as there's nothing interesting on either side of you. Still, if you checked www.5minutesaway.co.uk before you left, you can break the journey up a bit by stopping for whatever kind of break you want, whenever you want. It's a very simple idea, but an effective one. Choose your route, for ... Read the complete review
