About.com is designed so the articles published on it are in a regular column by an expert on the subject who has been checked by the website and proven to be knowledgeable. Ive only recently discovered the about.com site from being recommended it by a friend in college! Since then ive used in near enough everyday to research one thing or another! It, as its name suggests!, got information *about* anything you can think of (within reason!). I can only comment on the topics I use, but im sure it applies to all the other catagories you can choose from. Catagories range from "Arts/Humanities" to "TV/Radio", and everything in between. About.com claim to be the human internet, sadly I have found their attitude towards us humans to be pretty poor. I joined a fairly recent venture between about.com and clickdough, where they released a pay-to-surf bar that seemed very good. However, about 2 months into the partnership about.com were seen to be doing little in the way of promotion, and the key ingredient, advertisers were dropping like flies.
