Well, if you're reading this, then doubtless you've already tried many ways of making money online. You're a member of Dooyoo, and if you're as money grabbing a net geek as me, possibly Ciao and a few others too. Maybe your experiences have been good or bad, but hopefully you've made at least a small amount of cash.

And if you're not a member of Dooyoo, if you're reading this chances are you're still interested in making your internet connection pay for itself in some small way.

But, I'm sure you'll all agree, making money on Dooyoo takes time and effort. I've been here a few years now, and made a fair few bob in amazon vouchers, but writing reviews takes a lot of time, and sometimes I just don't have anything to write about .

Most of the reward schemes on the internet are small payers, with some of them taking ages to offer you anything after you've joined. You could sign up for them all and hope for the best, but you'd end up with an inbox full to the brim of spam, which will annoy you no end!

Well, today I'm going to talk about one survey site, and hopefully inspire some of you to maybe give it a chance. American Consumer Opinion is a website that send you a survey, you fill it out, and you get paid for it. The site is owned and operated by Decision Analyst, a company based in Texas, USA. It conducts on- line surveys for various companies, not just in the United States, but also around the world.

~~How does it work?~~

To become a member of American Consumer Opinion, you must go to the main page (www.acop.com) and fill out a registration form. It's quick and easy and merely involves giving them some info, such as name, address, internet connection speed, birth date, household income and suchlike . Some answers are mandatory, and some are optional, but the site does have an easily available privacy policy for you to read if you're not sure how your details will be used.

Basically it's to help the administrators to easily match each survey to the right kind of people, so that when a survey becomes available, they can make sure that you match the criteria needed. This site is free, and there are no sign up costs.

Once you've done this, sit back and wait. There is no instant gratification here, receiving a survey can take days, or weeks, or months . You have to show patience and allow them some time to find a survey that matches your interests. When a survey is found that you're suited to, they'll send you an invitation via e-mail to login and complete a screener, which takes just a few minutes, to double check that your consumer preferences, demographics, and so forth match the requirements for the survey. If they do, you'll be asked to complete the full survey.

~~Rewards~~
There are two kinds of rewards for taking part. If you answer the short qualifier (whether or not you're eligible for the survey) you'll be entered into a prize draw, with prizes anything from £5 to £100

If you pass the screening and complete the qualifying survey, you will receive a payment of anything from a few quid up to £20. A couple of years ago, the site used to pay in dollars, which was pain in the bum. However, they now pay in pounds (you need a minimum of £2 to get paid) which is much easier .

The payment is sent as a cheque, no vouchers that limit you to buying stuff from a few dull high street stores. And no waiting months to build up a large amount before you can claim. Although the cheques sometimes take a little while to arrive, they always DO turn up.

~~Site layout and design~~

The site is rather smart and classy, in black and gold colours, and all areas are clearly located and easy to find. The site is also fast to use, and pages load quickly without any stalling.

~~My experience~~
I've been signed up now for three years for a year and have received several surveys, earning myself about £110, which while not a huge amount isn't bad for just giving a few minutes of my time .The surveys have generally been within the ten minute completion range (this may vary if you are on dial up) although I did have one that took about half an hour.

Payments have all arrived, and always accompanied by a nice thank you letter, an unnecessary but very nice touch on their part.

You won't get rich quick, but you will get decent reward for any surveys you complete, and prompt reliable payment. The surveys are a bit few and far between in comparison to many other sites, sometimes I can go months without getting any - however, this may depend on your interests and age etc, as to what surveys you get sent . Overall, I like the site very much - its a little more free money for not doing very much at all .

Four stars from me - knocking one off because I'd like to receive more surveys!
