Advantages: secure, easy to use
Disadvantages: limited upload facility by restricting FTP to paid only accounts
Ever looking for storage space for special files and back ups? A free reliable service is usually rather hard to find to store files but to be honest, there a re a few out there. This being one.
After AOL shut down Zdrive (I think it was Z drive.... or X drive.... something) I was left looking for such a service to store my sewing pattern files securely.
Signing up with Adrive is easy, with its Basic (free), Signature, and Enterprise/Premium packs it certainly gives a choice to buy should yo need it.
So whats for free, and what's paid?
A price plan comparison is here : http://www.adrive.com/plans
However for free you do get 50Gb of personal use space, individual file sharing (you email a link to friends) Folder and directory upload, file download, and something called vZohoŽ Online Document Editor which apparently means you can edit your saved documents. I don't think it can be used to create new documents though!
The biggest thing I miss being on the free rather than the paid is the ability to FTP items, and before x/z drive closed they did have a Adobe Open Air program that helped you upload from your desktop too.
However I do approve of the security, once you log in you also have to prove you are not a robot and enter a captcha sequence, and I'm guessing that this locks out 90% of account hackers.
For free though, its not bad to have 50Gb to store on!
Summary: Good little service to help out the old hard drive
