Advantages: A good place to get reviews and film and tv gossip

Disadvantages: Getting to be a little behind other sites

I've been reading Aintitcoolnews.com for quite a few years now - I think I first discovered it back at the time of the Star Wars prequels, when I was desperate for any morsel of news on them that I could get my hands on.

Aintitcoolnews was always there with a scoop for me.

Set up by the larger than life Harry Knowles, Aintitcool has a very, very simple layout. Stories are broken down into movie gossip, reviews, TV, comics and games, with movies and TV taking precedence.

Rumours and stories and reviews are either done by the in house, or regular reviewers, simply known by their tags, like Moriarty, or Herc, or are sent in by Joe Bloggs. This keeps the site more down to earth.

At the bottom of every story, there is the Talkback feature, and this is where things get more interesting, and sometimes downright frustrating. It is in these talkbacks that fans and readers can post their own comments on the story in question, and it can get extremely heated at some points - this is not a site for children.

It is fascinating, though, to see the passion some people can have for a subject - and the hatred others can have. Sometimes though, it can be hard to see something you cherish being laid into, but at other times, the Talkbacks can be an area where you can chat with fellow fans, and discuss what twists and turns a favourite tv show (such as Lost) might take.

I wouldn't head to the site if you are looking for high brow, intelligently written articles however. As much as Harry and his crew are massively into fims and the like, their writing skills leave a lot to be desired.

Summary: Still a good site to kill some time on - IGN is better
