Disadvantages: loves it when wined and dined by studios

Film studios have for many years done test screenings to get feedback on how their films can be improved. With the dawn of the internet one site quietly posted reviews from the people who had seen the films. Gradually studios began to take notice that their films were getting bad press way before they had been released. Aint it cool has built up a network of inside informers who give the lowdown on what is happening behind the scenes in hollywood. Quite a lot of the info is good but beware as it can spoil your enjoyment of movies.
However in the past 2 years a worrying trend has started to appear. The webmaster of the site Harry KNowles has become a bit of a celebrity and studios have been inviting him along to their sets, showing their films to him in private screenings etc. Now this is all very well but the films involved have on the whole been bad but have garnered glowing reviews from Mr Knowles. The most recent example would be Blair Witch 2, Mr Knowles goes to a private screening and has lunch with the director-he reviews the film like it's a masterpiece when it is one the worst films of the year. Another example is The Faculty-he has small part in this film, is friends with the director and gives extensive coverage to the film. He makes it out to be an amazing piece of sci-fi-The end result was just an ok teen sci-fi horror movie. I still go to the site to get info on films but frankly his opnions on films hold no weight with me anymore. Check out the talk back sections on his site and you'll see a lot of people who share the same opinion
