www.airdisaster.com began in 1996 as 'The Aviation Accident Site'. But in 1998, it was re-launched under its new name, 'airdisaster.com'. Basically, the name says it all really, doesn't it?! It's all about air disasters. Not a good idea to look at if you suffer from any kind of nervous dispostion, or just about to go flying! Even so, the website is VERY good and VERY large! There are accident videos which you can download and view - including the World Trade Centre attacks. There are 8 videos to watch in total. This is the kind of website that divides opinions. Some people may find it sick, and there are certainly some weird people out there who would visit the site simply to get their jollies from watching air accidents. However, looked at from another point of view, it is an excellent resource for information for people involved in the press and the aviation industry. The site presents videos, photos, documents, eyewitness accounts, voice recorder transcripts, and many other resources which anyone would find interesting if researching this kind of accident. It is slightly disorientating to realise that you can download video of the September 11 terrorist attacks ... Read the complete review

Some people have been saying that this website is sick but to some people this can be interesting. They haven't made this site just to freak out people. This is a site based on facts and to show people how aircraft have crashed. Some people are interested to know why a certain type of plane goes down and what the cause is. Yes they do report how many people were killed but you don't see pictures of dead bodies. Yes you see pictures of destroyed or damaged aircraft but that is it. I am just interested purely for flying purposes. I want to look at an airline which I may be flying on and know if they have had recent incidents and if so ... Read the complete review

If you are a frequent flyer then the chances are that this is the last sort of site that you would want to look at. Despite being located amongst the 'weird' section in DooYoo, the site s actually very well presented and detailed and there is nothing gratuitous here like I had expected. What you get is a detailed list of air distasters, black box recordings, pictures etc all presented in a surprising tasteful manner much like a news site layout. Whether this is of any interest to anyone is debateable but there is certainly more than enough information for your average air disaster research. I wonder if there are air crash enthusiasts? I suppose there must be ... Read the complete review

As a user to this site would most probably notice, USA Today has been quoted as saying that this is "A must see website for every airline passenger." - I'm not quite sure why exactly, because looking at this isn't really going to do anything other than make you nervous. It's a very complete site which basically catalogues air distasters, as the name would suggest. Details of disasters (there are currently 1448 different incidents listed) are available and are catalogued and searchable. You can hunt through disasters by date, airline/operator and by plane manufacturer. It's very nicely designed and works very well (yet I still ... Read the complete review
