Advantages: Get paid for surfing
Disadvantages: Low payouts / low chance of winning
From smalladvantage to no-advantage! :-( For Update Please See End of Opinion --------------------------------------------- The Alladvantage ethos seems to have changed from guaranteeing to pay for surfing to giving people a chance to win money for surfing. Is this really an advantage over their competitors? When I joined Alladvantage they offered a maximum payout of around £5 per month for an individual to use their viewbar whilst surfing the net. Over the past seven months their payout rate has dropped to a poor seventy pence per month. They also used to encourage users to sign up their friends by offering multi-tiered downline payments. This meant that while people surfed they could look forward to receiving a cheque in only a few months for at least £20, depending on whether they were surfing alone or had a large downline of friends. Alladvantage have now dropped their paid to surf program for new users, and their payments would indicated that they would like to stop this kind of reward for all their current users too. Instead Alladvantage now offer the chance to win large amounts of dollars for surfing with their viewbar for three minutes a day. You can also win money in their sweepstakes if someone in your downline wins. I wonder though if this is the right way to encourage people to use the viewbar. I am loathe to change from the paid to surf program as I still like the idea of the small cheques coming, however at their current rates I will have to wait for two years to see my next one. At least this way though, I know that if the company is still around at that time I will get something for taking the time to use the viewbar. With the sweepstakes version it is possible that you could surf every day for the next 20 years and never see a cheque. If there are a lot of people out there who share my cynicism I think Alladvantage will find it hard to get new users
to take the time to download the viewbar and get used to using it, and then be bothered to use it every day when it is far easier to pop into a shop for a lottery ticket or even play a free online lotto. I very much hope that this is not the future for paid to surf programs as I believe that the idea is a good one, to encourage people to use certain products and services by paying them for their time being 'brainwashed’ by advertisements. Huge advertising budgets have to end up somewhere and small cheques every few months would at least help me afford my chosen products that the advertisers have successfully ‘persuaded’ me to want. UPDATE - LATEST NEWS --------------------------------------------- Well it seems the change from paid to surf to the alladvantage sweepstakes was merely a desperate ploy from a company having serious problems. I have just visited their website and ALLADVANTAGE IS NO MORE! Both the paid to surf and sweepstakes programs have closed for good. Alladvantage say they will only pay out now to members who have already accrued the £35 payment threshold, anyone with less in their account should hold out no hopes of ever seeing another cheque from them. The Alladvantage.com site gives instructions on uninstalling the viewbar software for those who need to (the functions like links will no longer be usable). This is such a shame, although it has been predicted by many for several months now. Alladvantage was a great program for a while and I am very grateful for the cheque I did receive from them. I hope their demise will not spell the end for paid to surf programs but that other companies will learn from the mistakes of Alladvantage. Alladvantage also had a lot of very creditable affiliates and advertisers who I hope will continue to use this form of advertising. Farewell and thanks to Alladvantage!

- 06/02/01 Thanks for the information,Dave. As Alladvantage is now finished I am definitely in the market for a new paid to surf program. I have read some of the dooyoo reviews and this looks like a good one. Lets just hope it lasts! |

- 02/02/01 I switched from Alladvantage to Surfmiles some months ago. They pay 30p per hour (in English money). Also you can transfer over your Dooyoo miles when they get to 15,000 for a cheque. |
