“ a UK based company specialising in the sale of foods and beverages from both America & the UK. We have an ever growing range of American goodies including best selling items such as Lucky Charms Cereal, Oreo Cookies, Jack Daniel's BBQ Sauces, Hershey's Candy, Mountain Dew and A&W Root Beer Soda „
I have ordered from this company a couple of times and the first time I didn't have too much trouble, even though I find the P&P of £5 for orders under £50 to be pretty expensive. However, they are not the only company to do so so I can't fault them for that alone.
My second order was placed around Christmas time and I had ordered a few items for a friend of mine as a Christmas gift, one of them being a box of Hostess cupcakes with cream filling. I only managed to get them to him after new year, but upon opening 2 of the cupcakes he told me they had no filling and that back in Canada if this happened the stores would replace the box. So I contacted the stateside candy co about this and requested a replacement. Their response was to request photographic evidence or if I could not provide this the best they could do would be to provide a partial refund. This sounded fair to me. However, upon sending them a photograph of one of the cupcakes with no filling they simply apologised and offered me a 10% discount on my next order. No offer of a replacement or refund as per their initial email.
I took this up with them and explained it was unacceptable to force me to spend further money with them just to receive a measly discount when, by law, I am entitled to a refund or replacement. Their response was that they could not replace the cupcakes and therefore they are offering me a discount and that was that, that it was a manufacturing issue and they'd keep an eye on it in future (as if that's of any help to me!). Apparently since I'd "accepted" the goods this meant I was entitled to no remedy and the discount was a goodwill gesture. The law states that if something is not as described, the customer is entitled to a refund or replacement and if a replacement is not possible the customer can choose to keep the item and receive a partial refund. Despite me saying all this to them they refused to acknowledge the law and I will never again place an order with a company who deal so disgustingly with customers who have problems with an order. To have spent £50 with them and be treated like that? I'll take my business elsewhere thanks and I recommend others do too. As you can see by other reviews their customer service is way below par.
Just received my parcel today and box was really bashed.......not there fault though so upon opening the box one item was completly bursted opened and food inside was soggy. So gave a email to the company then all i got back was a short blunt messgae to send them a picture. So phoned the company and i would of got more sense and answers from my 5 year old. The girl on the other side could not give me a proper answer and if i heard the work EH one time i could of screamed! Anyway the so called Director of the company answered my email telling me she was in the room while i was on the phone. After me asking the girl on the phone to put me on to manager. I found that so funny. Call me stupid but a manager director boss what ever should of dealt with that call. Do yourself a favour and do not order from this place theres so many othere BETTER american candy stores out there on the web
I have made a couple of orders now with AmericanSweets and I have to say they really are fantastic, cheap & reliable and you get just what you asked for, the website is attractive and very easy to use, I have been on a few American food sites and this one is by far the cheapest and had a great range of products, the customer care is great I emailed to ask about a product and I got a reply the same day, the only slighly negative thing I will say is that the cheapest shipping is £4.50 which is quite alot as I have seen a few for alot cheaper than this and some items appear to always be out of stock but that is the only thing I could pick, saying that, I have just placed an order with them recently and I cant wait until it gets here! I would advice anyone to use them, you will not be dissappointed!
At Christmas I struggled with what to get my teenage son, apart from the usual boring CDs, DVDs etc! Until I stumbled upon this website and decided to put together a hamper of American food for him!
I found this website to be great, it offers a really good range of products, from crisps (chips!) to red hot chilli sauce, to cereal and pop tarts, to American fizzy drinks (Mountain Dew, Welch's grape juice, Kool Aid etc) to chocolate and candy. Having compared the prices of the individual items if bought on Amazon for instance, this site is substantially cheaper. Ok, it still isn't cheap, but these items aren't available freely in our supermarkets so the price is pretty much expected. My favourite American cereal, Lucky Charms, for instance are much cheaper via this website (around £4.50 to £6ish, depending on availability of the size of boxes available) than in the rare shops over here that sell them (Selfridges charge around £7 and a specialist American food store I stumbled across recently in Carlisle charge £8!).
I also found the delivery cost (around £4.50 I think) to be reasonable, especially if you are ordering several items like I was. Delivery only took a couple of days.
Some items were out of stock or had low availability or short sell by dates, but again, we have to remember these products are being imported, so these things are to be expected (and lets face it things run out from our own supermarket shelves often enough so it is not unusual!).
Generally, a great range and a great service!
I found this site because I needed to send Crisps to a friend in Australia and I was enamoured by what they do and they're bright, user friendly website!! When I came to see how much it would cost to deliver to Australia, I found they didn't have any prices on their website but that I could email them for a quote. So I did. They quoted me a price. I was happy. I placed my order...
3/4 days later I get an email saying that they're holding my package in their warehouse because they MIS-QUOTED me and want MORE MONEY from me. THEY mis-quoted ME and they expected me to GIVE THEM MORE MONEY (£19 more, which is the cost of a whole other box of crisps!) I was shocked and confused by this, so I emailed them... waited a few days, didn't hear back from them.. so I phoned them. And their response was: Pay us the extra price or have a refund. No real sincere apology, no discount as an offer of goodwill for my massive inconvenience as you would find in ANY decent shop. Nothing. HAVEN'T THEY HEARD OF HONOURING THEIR QUOTE?
So I did what I had to do and paid it, because it's a present that has already been delayed thanks to them and I needed it to get to my friend in Australia asap. BUT I AM NOT HAPPY AND TOLD THEM SO (Which was met by silence...Nice. Thanks. Great to know how much you care!). And I warn anyone who uses them to ship abroad, whether it be to Australia or USA because the way they calculate their prices is FLAWED and they expect you to suffer the consequences! They expect YOU to judge how heavy the package is going to be and expect YOU to choose the delivery method and when YOU ASK FOR HELP they're still wrong and do nothing about it. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
PLEASE BE AWARE! The last thing you want to do is experience this, believe me!
I first discovered this website from Dooyoo! I took a look, and liked the prices, and have bought from them a couple of times since then.
Once a year, I tend to buy 12 tins of pumpkin with my regular grocery order, and that lasts me a whole year. This year I thought I'd try a different brand, so ordered my pumpkin from American Sweets. I also bought some Malt Salt (malt vinegar flavoured salt), hot dog relish and some candy corn. For the price of all that, the £4.50 postage charge was absorbed into the savings I made.
I find the variety of foods tempting, and always see something I want to try. The site is easy to navigate if I'm looking for anything in particular (in this case, pumpkin) and I like that there are permanent sale and 'what's new' sections if I just want to try something new.
I tend to buy breakfast cereals, poptarts and groceries which are difficult to find or expensive in the shops, and the prices are very competitive compared even to ebay. Of course, they're still more expensive than things that are mass marketed in the UK, but that's to be expected of imported goods. There's a good range of American style spice blends and flavourings too, which I always have to guess at when cooking from an American recipe.
I've not tried the next day delivery option, and they are very clear that it may take up to 5 business days to dispatch your order, but this last time I got a text the day before my delivery came, to tell me to expect it, which helps me be able to be in for the delivery.
***ABOUT THE STATESIDE CANDY COMPANY***
The Stateside Candy company are UK based and specialise is selling a range of food and beverages from the UK and America. They stock a great range of well know American items such as Lucky Charms, Hershey's, Oreo Cookies and more. You can also buy popular British food such as Haribo, Cadbury's, Walkers and more. Their shop is located in Aldershot, Hants on the Blackwater Valley trading estate. This is the only shop which is currently open but you can order all their goods online. I came across this website when I was looking for American and retro sweet's. I simply typed this into google and this website showed up in the search results so I decided to have a browse to see what items they sold.
***THE WEBSITE LAYOUT***
Their website is fairly basic and simple and doesn't really have anything fancy about the website. The main page gives you information about the company and what items they sell. Along the top of the page is a big banner stating that their Aldershot branch is now open. On the top left hand corner you have The Stateside Company logo. Underneath the banner which mentions the Aldershot branch, you will see lots of tabs with various things on them such as USA Candy/Sweets, BBQ & Gourmet Sauces & Dressings, Clearance Corner and more. These are just a few of the tabs to name but you will find more detail about each tab below:
* USA Candy/Sweets - When you click on this tab you will see other options to choose from. This section is based in categories and includes American Hershey's/Twizzlers Candy, American Reese's Candy, American Tootsie Candy, American Chewing Gum, American Jolly Rancher Candy, American Life Savers Candy, American Mars/Masterfoods Candy, Willy Wonka Candy, Nestle Candy/Pretzel Flipz, Mike & Ike/Hot Tamales Candy.

* Clearance Corner - This features all the items which have been reduced for clearance.
* Newsletter/Updates Sign Up - Fill in the information to receive regular updates about new items.
* Sugar Free Items - The name say's it all! A range of sweets and other items which are all sugar free.
* What's New/Restocked - This section has new items and items which have been previously out of stock which are now available to buy again.
On the left hand side on the page you will see your shopping cart and it will list the items which are currently in the cart and their individual price, and then it will have a total price as well. Here you can choose a different currency and it also shows you which forms of payment they accept. On the right hand side of the page is a customer login box and other boxes which you can click on for a quick link to the products such as Lucky Charms, Oreo Cookies, Pop Tarts and other items. I presume these must be the most popular items they list down this side.
***BUYING GOODS/ADDING THEM TO YOUR CART***
When there is any item you want to buy you will see the price in red and next to the price is a buy button and a quantity button. The quantity button is always one; how-ever you can change this if you wish to buy more than one item. Once you have clicked on the buy button you will see the item displayed in your cart on the left hand side. The cart will tell you what item you have and the quantity; it also states the price and the total amount of the items in your cart. When you are ready to pay for your items there are some options on the top right hand corner. Simply click on the 'View Cart' button and it will again show you what you have in your cart and the quantity you have purchased. On this page you can select a delivery method and confirm your country. Standard delivery for the UK is £4.50 and will take up to 2-3 working days.
Once you are happy with everything you simply click on the Checkout button and it will take you onto another screen where you can sign in, if you have ordered form this website before or you can just enter your e-mail address and continue with the order. On the next page you have to confirm your delivery choice again and then fill in your address and other information which you can opt to have the newsletter sent to you via e-mail. After filling in the delivery information the next page will give you information about delivery time-scales. You need to agree to the shipping timetable. There is also information about if your item is out of stock if you would rather have the money refunded or a similar item sent instead. You can choose which option you prefer. It also states that chocolate may melt when in transit to you if the weather is hot and they will not give refunds on melted products so you can choose whether to have the products delivered when the weather cools down or whether you want the order sent straight out or not.
Once all of this information has been filled in and confirmed you will be taken to the payment page to choose with method of payment you prefer. They accept PayPal, Credit & Debit Cards or you can pay for your order via telephone. I entered all the appropriate information to pay via a debit card and my payment was processed through a secure server. As soon as payment had been confirmed I received two e-mails. One e-mail included a reference number and confirmation such as billing address and how I paid. The second e-mail was like an invoice with all the products I had ordered with the total amount I paid. It also gave me information on how long my order would take to arrive which was 2-3 days.
The day after ordering from the website I received an e-mail in the evening to say my parcel would be sent within the next 48 hours by parcel force. In the e-mail was a tracking number which I could use to find out where my parcel was.
***RECEIVING THE ORDER***
I received my order which came in a large cardboard box. When I opened the box it had lots of packing paper inside to stop the items from moving around. The invoice was inside the box and so were all my items. The cans of icing which I purchased were wrapped in the packing paper to avoid damage or them getting dented whilst in transit. The order was perfect and nothing was missing. In fact in the box was a small packet of love hearts which were a freebie!
***SOME OF MY FAVOURITE PRODUCTS***
There are so many products to choose form on this website but I have listed a few below and gone into a little bit of detail about each one.
* Jolly Rancher Original Flavour Hard Candy - When I was younger these were available to buy in small packs of 8 and they came in a foil tablet style packet. Flavours include Apple, Blue Raspberry, Cherry, Watermelon & Grape.
* Lucky Charms - This takes me back to my childhood when I used to eat this for breakfast whilst sitting at the table with my dad. This is cereal with yummy marshmallow shapes such as rainbows, hearts and other shapes for you to enjoy.
* M&M's Peanut Butter - This is one of the most popular items on the website. Instead of the M&M's filled with chocolate they are filled with delicious Peanut Butter chocolate.
* Oreo Fun Stix - Many of you will have tried Oreo cookies, but these are a different kind of biscuit. These are chocolate Oreo wafer sticks and then they are filled with a cream flavoured centre. These are only 100 calories per pack as well!
I think this site is fantastic and I will definitely continue shopping here. Delivery was on time and I was kept updated about my order by e-mails which I thought was very good. Although some of the items are a bit pricey on here, they are items you can't buy from any shop in the UK which I guess is why their prices are quite high. I am very pleased with the website itself and all the information and updates I was given. I would highly recommend this website if you are looking for something a bit different or if you are looking to treat yourself or buy a friend something different. I will definitely be shopping here again.
(review also on ciao)
www.americansweets.co.uk is a website that sells a massive array of American candy, crisps and groceries. I found this site one day by accident, and as a big fan of American candy I was quite excited. I am now even more excited as they have recently opened a store in the town next to the one I live in, I can not wait to visit asap.
The site has a large stock of American food stuffs, and the candy ranges include Hersheys, Reeses, Mars, Tootsies, Russell Stover, Jelly Belly and Mike and Ikes. The groceries range includes Ores, Betty Crocker, Peanut Butter, Cookng Mixes, Hersheys, Popcorns, Mustards and breakfast cereals. Drinks include Root Beer, Mountain Dew, Kool Aid and Gatorade.
The site does have a large range of items to choose from, and the site is really easy to use. Every item is set in sections and you can find every thing quite easily, and there is a search function too. Once you have selected what item you wish to buy, just press add to basket and continue to shop until you are ready to check out. Clicking check out takes you to the check out page where you can review all items that you have placed into your basket and change anything that you need to change.
From here click continue and enter the payment page. Here you can select to pay with card (most accepted) or even through paypal. There is a delivery charge unless you spend over £50 on the site, in which case you get free delivery. The checkout is very simple and all instructions are clear and consise. Delivery is usually quite quick, I used to get my orders within 3 days, packaged well and never had any problems with any delivery or items that I have ordered.
If you wish to buy any American Candy or Groceries, I recommend this site as there is such a great range, although the price can seem a little high on some items and it is for that reason I do not always buy from the site if I can get some items sent to me by friends in America, as it is actually cheaper for some things.
All in All the site is a great one, and most of the items are pretty good priced, you just have to be careful as to what you pay for. I give this site a 4 out of 5 due to some high prices, but everything else is brilliant.
Sometimes british snacks are a little on the boring side, the most experimental people will get are a bag of walkers salt and vinegar crisps, bore-ring. This is where american soda steps in, it sells a wide variety of US food that we have always wanted to try! They also stock UK food and drinks available to other parts of the world such as pot noodes (don't know why anybody would be interested though).
One of the sites most popular products is going to be 'Lucky Charms' they are usually sold out. They were taken off the UK shelves for being too unhealthy or something offensive about a leprechaun. Americans really do get all the fun, a pack of these lovelies will set you back a staggering £9.99 on this website, but they are worth it as a little treat. They also have quite a good range of Soda's, they do a good equivelant to vanilla soda, which UK sadly took off our shelves! We're not allowed to have any fun these days. Soda's on the site are around £1.30 a can or in 12 packs which is £10.99.
I have ordered off there twice now and delivery charges vary, it depends on your items. If you spend over £50 you get free delivery (which is not hard to do). Ordering is very simple you can pay through your credit card or through paypal.
It doesn't state on the website how long delivery takes, but you will get a tracking email sent to your account so you know how your delivery is getting on. I have always recieved my goods within a week which I was absolutely gobsmacked about, usually these things take forever, but they were great.
The site have clearance sales, if they're going to stop stocking an item then they will have it for around half its usual price. They also do American lipbalms, I haven't personally tried myself, but they look quite cool. On the site you can also choose from seasonal candy such as 'Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving..' where you get a selection of different types of American food for the occasion, which is excellent for a Halloween party.
This is a great trustworthy site that sells food that isn't available in this country such as Cheeto's and yummy chocolate chip cookies, lets face it Marylands are vile. There's also cooking sauces to try. It makes food available to test out and particually if you have been to the US, fell in love with a food that you can't get your hands on. The food in my opinion has tasted great and not been out of date and I will happily order again. They have a store in Aldershot selling the goods on the site but I live nowhere near there, but you will not need to order off the site if you live in that area. The only disadvantage is that they are quite expensive, I wouldn't suggest doing a weekly shop on there, but it's great for a little treat. Give it a try!
Having spent a good deal of my life in the United States, I have come to love and miss some of the foods we don't get over here. Corn dogs are always on my mind, and I realise I probably wont get them until I return. But when I got a hankering for pumpkin pie, I thought this might be slightly easier to fix. Wrong.
Long story short, I got my craving just at the end of pumpkin season, and even if I had been able to find a pumpkin, it is a bit of a pain-in-the-ass process to get it pie-ready. No, I wanted a jar of pumpkin pie filling and that isn't too much to ask, surely. Apparently so. After much Googling I discovered that Waitrose supposedly stocked it, and I persuaded my dad to take me to the nearest store, some 40 minutes away. To my disappointment, there was a big empty space where the cans should have sat on the shelf, and I was informed by staff that there had been a huge shortage. This was several months ago and when I have been back, there is still no pumpkin on the shelf and they have even removed the sticker where it used to live. Sad but true.
Did I give up on my pumpkin pie dreams? No I didn't! I decided that, since I had made my mind up I wanted it, I would just have to order online. While there are plenty of sites stocking US candy and food, the Great Pie Shortage had also reached them, and it was at americansweets.co.uk where I finally found my Holy Grail!
The Stateside Candy Co (www.americansweets.co.uk) stock all kinds of import goodies such as candy, soda (root beer being another thing I miss like crazy, I added a can to my basket), barbecue and hot sauces, and ingredients which are hard to find over here, including my sought-after pumpkin pie filling and those required to make recipes from Nigella Lawson books.
Obviously, being imported, the products are a little dearer than you would pay for say a chocolate bar here, but they are reasonable compared to similar sites. I was a bit horrified to see the price of shipping (£3.99, some expensive can of pumpkin!), so added a few extra goodies I had been missing to make my order more worthwhile and justifiable. I wholeheartedly recommend Butterfingers and Tootsie Pops, if you're interested.
There is also a next-day shipping option if you have some urgent baking to do or whatnot, but this sets you back a staggering £8.99, and low and behold if my delivery (using standard shipping) wasn't there waiting the next day when I got back from work. I was impressed, especially considering I had ordered in the late afternoon, so definitely would advise against using express shipping. Not only had it arrived quickly, it was all in one piece, well packaged and had a few extra miniature Hershey bars sprinkled on top!
I finally got to make my pie, and it was every bit as delicious as I had imagined it to be. The can also lasted me a few batches of pumpkin pancakes, so I got my money's worth. I have used other US food importers online in times of desperation (thank God they are bringing Reeses Pieces and Peanut Butter Cups here more mainstream!) and with Cyber Candy in particular have had trouble with orders not showing up, to the point I would have to email them for several weeks, and issues with the freshness and sell-by dates of products arriving. I had no problems whatsoever with the Stateside Candy Co and they will be my nostalgic pig-out supplier of choice from now on!
