Advantages: Latest hardware news, developments
Disadvantages: Can be very technical
If you have even the slightest interest in PC hardware developments and the latest products then there aren't many better sites than Anandtech. This is a site dedicated to acquiring and testing all of the latest computer hardware, whether it' a motherboard or a hard drive. I spend a great deal of my time researching what to put in my PC next and site's like this are where I get my information. While site's like DooYoo offer an end-users opinion, they are limited by what the opinion writer has used the product for. This is where a site like Anandtech comes in handy. The website is owned by Anand al Shimpi, hence the name Anandtech, and deals with the latest news on the hardware front, although they do sometimes cover some software. They frequently run editorials, testing products against each other (for example Athlon Vs Pentium 4, Geforce Vs Radeon) and offer a totally balanced and unbiased opinion. Everything is also very easy to read and understand, with the writing being very concise. Obviously the field in which the site operates, means that some of the information is very technical, but Anand and his team try to explain everything in-depth. Over the last few months the have run editorials on Graphics Cards, Motherboards, Hard Drives and CPU cooling solutions to name but a few, as well as offering guides on how to overclocck your processor SAFELY. (Well as safe as you can). They also host a very good forum which has proved invaluable on the few occasions that I have used it, with members being very friendly and helpful. I'm finding it a little difficult to fully explain how useful and informative this site is. Amongst the hardware community it is a very well respected site, and it's articles frequently appear on the major technology news sites, such as The Register. If you are interested in developments in PC hardware, and would like to know what makes your graphics card tick, then this si
te is superb.
