I have been with another.com now for about a year and a half now as I found that using outlook express tended to clog up my email and connection so I decided to try a net based email account.

It has been the best decision I've made with regards to email accounts, as there have been hardly any problems! Another.com is easy to sign up to, You just give them some details like your name address and so on and Bobs your uncle. Well I haven’t really got an uncle called Bob have you?

The Sign-up.
+-+-+-+-+-+-+

Signing up to another.com is pretty simple to do so, you should follow these simple steps.

Step 1. Go to the site and click on the link which reads “New? Click to Join” This link will take you to the registration page where you can begin to sign up.

Step 2. Enter your details in the space provided, details required include name, date of birth, postcode and so on. On the registration page you are asked liked this site did when you first joined, to enter a username and password *NOTE* it is a good idea to write these down to ensure you don’t forget the details.

Step 3. After entering these details, you are then required to enter a code in the space provided. If you are worried about any thing with another.com, it is advised that you read the terms and conditions and when you have, you may then tick the box.

Step 4. The simplest of them all, Click “Enter”.

After these steps, you are then taken to a page where you can sign up with additional sites but if you do not want to you may leave the boxes clear and click “Finish”.

After the next page loads, you will find your email homepage. You will find you have 1 email in your inbox which will welcome you to the site.

What’s included in the account and how do I use them?
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- +-+-+

There are many things which are includ
ed in the account. When I joined, the site had minimal offerings but they have branched out since and can now offer free text messaging, up to 20 domain names and many other things along with the usual stuff such as sending and receiving emails.

* Inbox and extras

These are easily accessed by the clicking on the links which will then take you to these folders. You can manage the emails from here which will include giving you the choice of weather you want to delete emails, block (filter a sender) and so on. The unread emails are clearly marked out by them being at the top of the page and they are of a different shade to the light ones. As you enter your account, you have two choices of where to begin, you can set your account to open up at your overview or straight to your inbox.

If you choose your overview, it will show you how many unread messages you have as well as your total messages you have stored in your folders of sent and received (inbox). As well as these folders, there is a ‘compose’ section where you can send a message to whoever you want, you enter the email address of the person you are sending to and then write your message followed by the send button.

* 20 different email addresses!

I know you are saying ‘20 different email addresses!’ but Yes 20 that’s just crazy and there are loads of modern email addresses to choose from such as the eastenders linked ...@Lisa-shot-phil.co.uk and so on. *NOTE* If you do want a completely personal address, you will have to pay for the privilege but another.com have loads on offer to choose from, all funky, modern and there is always at least on to fit your personality or mood!

If you want to have more than just one email address, just click on the domain names link which is found on the left hand side of the page which will take you to the process. *NOTE* You will automatically get an email address when you sign up which will co
nsist of USERNAME@another.com. This will be the default address so to say and then you can go from there!

There are loads of addresses to choose from and you can browse through many different categories such as ‘occasions and event’ ‘summing you up’ and ‘famous people’. There is also the choice to randomly select a name or try a search and you can always change your mind as long as you haven’t clicked on ‘OK’

* 22 Colour Schemes!

Yes gone have all the boring greys and white of email accounts and in are the sharp and sometimes clashy colours! There are 22 colour schemes which you can choose which can reflect your mood or personality including blue, pink and green swatches. You also have the choice for the site to randomly select the colour scheme so that every time you log in, you will find that your account is a different colour!

If you want to change the colour scheme, it is simple to do so, all you need to do is click on the ‘your options’ link on the left-hand side of the screen. This link will then lead you to another page where you can follow steps to choose your desired scheme. This idea is truly great as now you can personalise your account even more and it looks much more modern and cleaner as well.

* Free Text Messaging!

Yes, today I found out that another.com have introduce free text messaging. In order to take up the chance, you need to sign up with genie.co.uk, another.com will tell you what to do and it is pretty straightforward. To join up with genie is totally free and it is well worth it! After you have done the necessary things, you may text away! What I also liked is that genie also set up a account for you which includes another email account and webspace which you don’t have to bother with but still could come in handy!

I would advise you to join the free text messaging as I was using lycos but then it went rathe
r unreliable and then I moved to mtnsms that did the same and now charge for replies. I joined this additional service and so far I have found it very reliable as the speed of delivery of the texts are very quick and they also send you an email confirmation of the sent text!

* Other things and improvements.

Since I joined another.com, many things have changed in the site, first of all the colour swatches were introduced and then came the new logging out process.

The logging out process used to just involve clicking the log out button but because of other reasons, another.com had to introduce banners that you will find after clicking the log out button. These banners were introduced in order to keep the service free which I think is better than having to pay for it. All that is required is each time you log of your account, you are asked to click on one of the three banners to close and log out of your account safely and securely.

Before, I had a problem about receiving attachments and HTML emails from senders and often got annoyed, as I couldn’t read most of them. As a resolution though, about a month ago, another.com send the members a link to try out the site which could handle these emails as a trail run and asked us to let them know if there were any glitches with it or bugs which we could let them know about before they introduce it. I tried it out and found no problems with it and recently they introduced it. Since then, I have been able to read all my emails which makes my emails look much more high tech and worth reading more as many emails are much nicer in HTML format rather than just plain text!

As well as what is mentioned above, there is an address book section and help sections, which includes FAQ’s and allows you to give feedback on matters involving the site. What I like about another.com is the fact that they put their members first, they keep on expanding the site with links for cheaper th
ings as well as making sure we have the best service they can provide.

They offer a wide range of things all which are worth while. There are many advantages to having an online email account which include the fact that you can check your email wherever you are, your email account unlike outlook express wont get clogged up and it is much more colourful and brighter! Another.com also offer a monthly newsletter with some offers and when I joined it gave me an Amazon.co.uk Voucher which can't be all bad! The only disadvantage I can see is the idea of security, sometime I think that any body could get into my account as I suppose it would be easier as opposed to an account such as outlook express but I feel the advantages by far outweigh the disadvantages.

I love the site, it is a good idea and it far surpasses any new members expectations as the site is just really great and adding that personal touch to things makes it that much better. They never stop expanding and making the service better.

On the whole Another.com is a great email provider and I'd recommend it to anyone!

:) Mike.
