Advantages: Image search is good

Disadvantages: Nothing new, basic

Ask.com, formerly known as AskJeeves.com, is a fairly popular search engine. It's definitely lost a lot of traffic to Google and Yahoo and seems to be getting used less and less. I can't remember even seeing an advert from them in years, like they used to have.

In terms of design, it's very simple and more or less the same as Google, in the way that there is a text box to type in your search or question and then a logo of the company. One thing I do prefer on Ask.com is the image search. It seems easier to narrow your search with size and colour without having to go into the advanced settings. Although they don't have anything new or useful.

It works pretty much the same as other search engines but I've found that a lot of the results are just advertising and I rarely ever get a result that answers my question straight away like they imply it does. The sponsors aren't out of control but could be cut down.

Although they are different in their main concept; Ask answers questions whereas Google searches text... they actually do the same thing and Ask's biggest problem is Google being much more popular. I wouldn't say it's a bad site because it's pretty much the same, but Google have become so much bigger that there isn't much room for competition.

Summary: Google is more than enough.
