Advantages: easy to use, great search
Disadvantages: nothing
Audio Galaxy is basically like what Napster used to be just you can actually use this and it's really simple to download and use. The good thing also about this is that it is legal and it hasn't been banned by any record companies yet, even though the odd one or two may not like it, but as long as the intelligent music people behind it keep getting song on it will keep going, even if it ends I am sure something will replace it. I first heard of this when I went on www.downloads.com and searched on music and they said this was the No1 download, it had been recommended to me before but when I had previously used it, it hadn't worked right so I gave up. I then was told to use it again because it was really good for downloading music and the variety of music was wide it had every file possible. I have to say for music Audio Galaxy is even better than Morpheus because it has files Morpheus doesn't. DOWNLOAD ________ To download the Audio Galaxy sattelite go to www.downloads.com and search for Audio Galaxy then download it and install it then register to the website and get a username and password. You can choose whether the satellite opens up when you start the computer up or just to open it when you want to use it. SEARCH AND DANCE ________________ To get the music you go onto the AG website and use the search box, you can either type in the title of the song or the artist and the file should come up. Once the list of files come up to your search you look for the ones with a fully green square next to them this shows the availability, but squares that are grey with no green in them are not available and won't download so there is no point on clicking them and putting them on the to download satellite list. Once you have selected all songs you want downloaded, the satellite should be open and then it processes the songs and starts downloading, it will be fully downloaded when it gets to 100%. Even
if you close the webpage everytime you go onto it the list will still be there so that when you open the satellite it will download the one first on the download list. GET LISTENING _____________ Once your song is fully downloaded you open my computer up and then your drive file, then your program files and your audiogalaxy file and the song files will be there, you just click on them and play the songs. If you have problems if the songs won't play then if you have Morpheus drag the file of the song you want into your Morpheus My Shared Folder File and after about 30 seconds the song will be added to your Morpheus audio file where it will play perfectly. The AG Satellite can handle any connection speed, but obviously a faster connection downloads quicker. CONCLUSION __________ I like this because you can always guarantee you will find your song and it automatically downloads things quickly and when you open the satellite. It's easy to use the AG and I recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to download music.

- 27/02/02 Not keen on audiogalaxy after thier security fiasco last year. Most of these 'free' programs are anything but, Audiogalaxy bundles other programs with its own to make money - ones that cash in on your surfing habits or target ads at you. Spyware in other words(they add it to your system without your knowledge). Audiogalaxy decided they wouldn't bother checking out one of the companies who said they wanted in on this, so a months worth of downloads came with a piece of spyware which stole audiogalaxy users credit card details etc. and sent them to an anonymous email address! They only removed them because the comapny never paid them for their time, they didn't even have an address!
I use Morpheus which promises no spyware, but has banners in the program instead. Much safer...probably. |
