I remember once upon a time going to get the autotrader from my local newsagent and buying a big magazine full of ads for a variety of cars. However this was a long time ago and if you look at their magazine edition now it has definitely shrunk and does not feature as many cars anymore.
This is mainly due to the coming of the internet and the autotrader website.

The main reason Autotrader is now more popular as a website than a mag is because it allows the buyer to view and browse cars for free as many times as they want all year round! This means not having to spend £1 on a mag every week!

The site is great, easy to use, browse and search! I love this site and often use it even when I am not in the market. You are not only able to search by make and model but also narrow your results down by location, so like the mag you can look for cars around your local area.

Autotrader have done extremely well as a company in making sure their brand will still be recognised in the future and by creating a great site have ensured they are part of the new revolution. A popular site which means you always have a wide choice of cars and you are always guaranteed to find a variety of the model you are looking for (unless it's extremely prestige or rare).

I believe Autotrader will remain around for years as they have not been scared of entering a new market even though their main income has now dropped. As long as they don't start to charge sellers to much to advertise they will continue to be at the forefront of motoring advertising for a considerable time to come!
