Advantages: Great for Buying/Selling. Easy to use website

Disadvantages: Magazine too expensive. Stick to the website

Auto Trader is a webiste from which you can buy or sell any make/model of vehicle including cars, vans, bikes etc. It is also available in magazine format which is released every Friday morning, though is not cheap.

SELLING:
I have sold a few cars via Auto-Trader and because of its national recognision and popularity I have always managed to sell a car advertised on this site and generally rather quickly. The price of advertising your car for sale isn't cheap but there are a few packages available. If you are a private seller then you can choose one of the following packages:
Standard Package - 2weeks advertising on website, 1 week magazine = £35.00.
Web Special - 6 weeks advertising on website = £40.00
2 Weeks Web Offer = £25.00
Bargain Rate Standard Package (for cars being listed for under £1000) = £15.00
Bargain Rate 2 Weeks Web Offer (for cars being listed for under £1000) = £9.99.

You basically just write a passage about your car stating all the facts and extras your car, list contact details, then upload the photos you want published, pay by any debit/credit card and its all done. Its a very straightforward website to use and very informative.

BUYING
For those of you buying a car I cant recommend this website highly enough. Unlike ebay where you have to bid then wait for the auction to end this is just a straight forward car sales website. The price advertised is the price the consumer wants.

The website is really easy to navigate round with thousands of cars available to view. To narrow your search you just enter the relevant criteria for the cars you wish to search. You can enter your post-code then select a mileage radius so auto trader will only select cars within a certain radius of your home, you can select make/model and minimum or maximum cost.

You can also then enter further search criteria including engine size, colour, year and spec eg: TDI, ST etc. The results are then listed in a specific order (generally cheapest to dearest). You click on any that look interesting and you are presented with all info needed including pictures, car facts, where the car is and seller details for you to contact.

If buying a car now I always use this website. Cars are sold by both private users and business users should you have a preference. The magazine features generally the same cars as the website and for around £3.50 a time Id recommend just using the website instead. There is also a larger range of cars on the website than in the magazine.

I have always found the site easy to use, reliable and the information on it very useful. I would def recommend this website for both buying and selling your vehicles.
