Advantages: Once you've paid and got your CV on the net you can have unlimited revision made to it.

Disadvantages: Costs money and not proven to be effective

WHAT
available4work.co.uk. is a site where you provide relevant details about yourself in different text boxes, pay £14.99 and they shape it into a CV and stick it on the web. You get a choice of four different C.V. styles – Modern, Classic, Jazzy or Formal. Your C.V. will be up for a year and you can have them make an unlimited number of revisions to it.

BAD
But aside from the fact that as an unemployed person I would be unwilling to fork out £15 (which is as near as dam it what £14.99 is) without having some sort of testimonials or figures to assess my investment, i.e. number of CVs produced to date, number that belong to people now successfully employed etc.

All the CVs that they offer apart from Classical have coloured background, which means they are not well suited to printing out. I personally would not use this service but would use one of the job sites where you can upload your details for free and where there are also listings of job vacancies.

Also I’d be a little dubious about putting my career future in the hands of people that have this on their own web page:- ‘To have your web apge updated at any time during the 12 month period’ - Spot the deliberate mistake

GOOD(ISH)
There is a link for prospected employees to view CVs currently online. However don’t all rush at once prospective employees, as when I visited 22.04.01 there were only 2 CVs to view. One seeking work in the warehouse/retail sector, the other in personal/admin. But fair do’s, the idea is good!

There is a page of links that will be of help to the job seeker, one of which, surprisingly enough is a link to a rival on-line CV provider. The service is one pound cheaper, the CV is an interactive Flash designed one (though all the same style the only choice being between three colour themes) and it is up for two years instead of one. Sounds as though it’s twice as good for a little less ini
tials lay out! But the rival site only updates twice a year, so you won’t have the chance to modify your CV to suit particular job applications.

The only good things about this site are the links page and the fact that there are no pop ups or banners.

Good op - charging to look for a job is disgusting - you can list it free of charge on www.jobsite.co.uk and will get it distributed to agencies and employers throughout the country, simply by pressing a button, at the last glance (it is now hidden), it had been viewed 947 times and I got a new job out of it. There are also other sites such as reed.co.uk, monster.co.uk to name a few where jobs are listed, and you can house a copy of your CV for easy application.

Great opinion, with a warning! There are lots of sites offering help with recruitment. The key is to find out how they get their income. If they're relying on job hunters to pay, give them a wide berth!

I'm just glad I've got a job already ;-) Good opinion there.
