Advantages: easy to find on google

Disadvantages: Quality of info poor, majority of mums formula feed and start solids early

It's a shame after reading so much about this site it did not live up to my expectations. I noted hostility, agression and terrible moderation on many of the boards. I visited the starting solids board and was shocked and horrified regarding the advice given. One moderator suggested it was ok to feed solids to a ten week old baby despite this being a direct contradiction to all current health recommendations, there was no mention of possible long term problems introducing food so early could take.
I found the information pages wishy washy and lacking in quality often just being the opinion of a particular "expert" and not a balanced view.
Shame what could be a useful resource in my opinion is full of bad parenting advice from some mums there who think they know it all.

I have to disagree with your views. I've been on Babycentre for almost 4 years and yes some boards can be strange but my birth board is one of the best. I've had so much support from them and made some fantastic friends from it. Solids and MMR are 2 of the biggest debates most baby forums have, so I would never have visited that board first.

Doesn't sound ever so clever.

At best it sounds like a typical clicky forum, at worse bad advice could be so dangerous. Thanks for the warning.
