Disadvantages: Becomes addictive!

When I fell pregnant with my first son I was scared, worried and felt very alone. I was the first of my friends to have a baby, and nobody had asnwers to the questions I had. So I started to search the internet to find somewhere I could find the answers I needed.

I stumbled across several baby websites, but one particularly caught my eye - Babycentre.co.uk.

The website looked clear, concise and very easy to understand. It looked full of useful information so I decided to delve further.

The list of topics you could search within was immense. Everything from a conception calendar, to questions about swollen feet, cramps and midwife appointments. Any question I had, Babycentre could answer.

But that wasn't the best bit. I soon discovered their birth clubs. Forums where you could chat to other ladies at the same stage of pregnancy as me! Soon I became addicted. Any problem I had, other people were going through the same thing. If I had a symptom I wasn't sure of, somebody could tell me if it was right or wrong. The ladies soon became a great community of support that I became to rely on.

Therefore, when I fell pregnant with my second son it seemed only natural to join my next birth board, and I have made more friends all with children the same age as my son. We meet up, and exchange gifts on birthdays etc. It has certainly changed my idea of internet forums....

I would definitely recommend Babycentre.co.uk if you are pregnant or have a young child - there is always someone waiting to talk or help.
