Disadvantages: None
When I was pregnant with my daughter being my first baby and never having been pregnant before I felt completely over whelmed and the constant body and emotional changes and panicking over the smallest twinge which meant that Googling my symptoms had become the norm. One day whilst having one of my little panics I stumbled upon Babyworld a great site packed with information for Mums to be.
It covers everything from conception, pregnancy, birth all the way up to toddlers all the pregnancy symptoms the complications and a timeline so you can see what your little growing baby is actually like at each stage. It is amazing a great resource for the panicking pregnant people and mothers alike.
It also has a shop which if you are a member of their website you get 5% off it sells the normal baby stuff like prams, cots travel systems and also has product reviews by members who obviously no what they are talking about. The shop I think is a bit overpriced but has lots of items that you wouldn't necessarily know about so it's good to have a look for new products on.
So, now my favourite part of babyworld the community Having had a look at all my symptoms and realising I was probably a bit neurotic I noticed that they had such a thing as an Antenatal club where you could chat to people who were expecting and were due the same month as you. Now, before I continue I would not normally frequent forums and thought that they were full of nutters and people that used txt talk and LOL (no offence) a lot so was in two minds but thankfully my baby brain took over and there I was all signed up to my antenatal club.
What a revelation these people were normal they were all as neurotic as me and all talking about the same things like the butterflies in their tummys and did we think they were kicks and the tiredness and the emotions it was great they knew what I felt like because they felt the same.
So we followed each over through our pregnancies helped each other through the bad times and laughed with one another at the good times. Talked about stuff that I would never talk about to some of my closest friends. Now 3 years on and I have a great group of buddies who are still fantastic resources because our kids are going through their milestones together and its lovely to have people to share stuff with who know what you are talking about.
You can also write your pregnancy diary, and talk in the other forums of which there are lots covering everything from trying for a baby to adoption and potty training. ]
I would say Babyworld is a great resource for all Mums and I am very glad I found it. I would recommend a visit to anyone who is pregnant or trying for a baby or those with young children.
Summary: great free site packed with information
