Advantages: Fun and exciting things for your little one to do
Disadvantages: None
Cbeebies website is a great website for under 4's and a perfect way to keep them out of trouble for half an hour on a rainy day. I sit down with my little girl, with the laptop on our knees and have an explore.
The cbeebies website is part of the BBC, and can be accessed directly through the BBC website. It is very colourful and there are so many tabs and options, there is no end of things to keep them entertained.
There is a grown up section, which I have never noticed before, which has some invaluable information on there. It contains message boards, a pregnancy calendar for all the family counting down the days to mummy's new arrival, party kits (including party invitations and colour your own wrapping paper!) and height charts. You can also download a Balamory first day at school milestone book, so your little one can remember their exciting first day at school. There is a Koala Brothers star helper certificate, so if your child has been good, you can print the chart and track their behaviour. The section for parents with special needs seems very informative including discussion boards and information on Autism, blind and visually impaired children, dyslexia, learning difficulties and speech and language problems.
The main cbeebies page for children has many different drop downs all including further options such as fun and games, stories and rhymes, print and colour, make and do and music and songs. My little girl loves the 'all cbeebies characters' section where there are 78 different characters to choose from, again all offering more options once you are inside their specific page. With so much choice they will be entertained for hours, and it gives you both a little interactive time together when its raining or they are bored of painting, etc!
My daughters favourite is Mister Maker, which gives ideas of different things to make at home - perfect for school holidays - for example, cotton bud creatures, a ship in a jar, shells pictures or a pasta robot to name but a few. Charlie and Lola is also a favourite, giving the option to paint a butterfly on the computer, improving coordination with the mouse, as well as many other fun activities.
Overall an excellent website, perfect for inquisitive little monsters!
