Advantages: Helps you get to grips with all the relavant info.

Disadvantages: Only useful if used wisely!

If your currently in Year 11 (or in college re-sitting your GCSE's) then id definately advise you to watch the BBC Bitesize programmes. In my opinion they truely are ace!
Ive started my A-level course now and I started watching the BBC Bitesize programmes (well recording them!) when I was in Year 10...just to get a head start!
The programmes are suited to both foundation tiers, intermediate, and advanced tiers. Although sometimes the advanced is a little brief, and is maybe a bit too low, its still worth watching though. I sat advanced/higher tier in all but maths, which I sat intermediate and they all suited me fine.
I think they're only worth watching if you use them as directed, by this I mean pausing the tape when it tells you to, and actually answering the questions it asks, its pointless sitting there "watching" it if you're not taking it in! Now I know pausing the tape here there and everywhere is a real pain in the backside....but its worth it - honestly, believe me!
I came away with 3 A's, 5 B's and 2 C's. So it IS worth it. Yeh like sure its not only down to watching the BBC Bitesize programmes (I wish!)....but if you use the facilities available wisely you can do really well. Use the TV programmes, in-line with the Bitesize website (thats brilliant...it really is - it has tests for you to do and it marks them for you...all very convienient!), along with countless books...and you'll pass them all.
Most of all GOOD LUCK!

*UPDATE*

The BBC education websites now offer a similar thing to the bitesize for us AS level students...which is great in my opinion!
Its basically the same as the GCSE Bitesize things, you get the programmes and the topics/tests/forum's online (www.bbc.co.uk/asguru)
the only problem is, as yet they only do Maths, Biology, English Lit and General Studies AS level. SO out of all them only Biology is of relevance to me. One other slightly bad
- rather annoying thing about the site, is the fact that they're really slow at updating it. Unlike the GCSE Bitesize - they dont just include the whole years work...they do it in modules - as yet though there is STILL only module 1 up, the exams are in June! Never the less the little exams are quite good - they tell you the marks you got - and tell you which were right and wrong.

Definately worth a look.
And extra look to all AS students!!
