As my husband is a web site designer by trade and we are both huge fans of most sports, I can speak about www.bbc.co.uk/sport with a degree of supposed expertise.

As far as layout and design go, this for me is the best around and is certainly a lot clearer to navigate around than its immediate competitor in the UK in the shape of www.skysports.com. The colour scheme of the BBC sport web pages is really modern in a subtle kind of way and I love the fact that they are toned down rather than in your face red and blue.

The site is always kept up to date and you sometimes get the feeling that they report the news before it happens. As a huge football fan, I can honestly say that the football pages are the best around and make finding exactly what you want to know extremely easy at all times.

However, for all of its good points, there are some negatives. The site does seem to hang a lot when something really big happens and perhaps the biggest crime is the accuracy, or should I say lack of accuracy, of the reporting. It is not so bad with Premier League football and top level other sports, but some of the reporting of lower down than that is terrible. I am not talking things that are subjective, I am talking factual information like the names of players in match reports being completely wrong. This needs tightening up on to bring the site to the next level.
