Advantages: High quality video, reliable information, good blogs

Disadvantages: Not very personal to your team

For a long time, the BBC has been considered a reliable source for sporting information which is why using the BBC sport section of the website is a natural choice for me. I prefer the BBC website over the Sky website as the BBC website seems quicker and personally I find the BBC reports more reliable information whereas Sky will report some speculation. Not a bad word can be said about the Sky Sports News channel however which is different from the website. The BBC Sport website had a layout change not so long ago and is very simple to navigate with the various sports on the left which go into to sub categories when you click them on the left. For example you can access the football section and then choose a nation, league or competition and then choose a team from that category should you wish or the fixtures, results and tables. All of the information is displayed in a simple format.

The BBC has bloggers within their sport sections who produce some excellent articles, my personal favourite being the Robbo Robson blog who has a very funny take on certain aspects of football. This adds a more personal dimension to the website allowing readers to comment. Readers can also comment in the forum section of the BBC Sport site which is very popular among sporting teams and some comments even find their way into main articles.

The BBC Sport website also has a great highlights section and it was great being able to watch the Twenty 20 World Cup highlights in very high quality and to stream Confederations Cup matches, also in very high quality and nothing more than two or three seconds behind the television.

The BBC is a great resource for Sport, my only gripe is that they do miss some information with regards to specific clubs which is why I use a club specific fansite to find news on my club.

Summary: A reliable source of sporting information.

I used the site to keep up with the Wimbledon Championship, when I wasn't near a TV.
