Advantages: Useful, resourceful, frequently updated, vast archives

With over 2 million web pages, the BBC website has to be one of the most resourceful websites in any field. I've used 'similar' websites such as itv.com and news.sky.com but none come as close to my demands anyhow as much as the BBC website. The simplicity of it all and a user friendly interface is a major plus point in it's ideality towards web users.

Not just available by computer, it can be accessed by mobile phone and is a website I use reguarly, both on my phone and my laptop. Just off the homepage at bbc.co.uk, you can instantly navigate to different categories of the site, supplying most demands that you could want from such a website, for example News, Sport, and Weather to the likes of Sceince & Nature, Entertainment and Business. On both mobile and computer, I find it very easy to navigate from page to page, with each page clear and very appealing to read as they are neat and have plenty of links to navigate to other parts of the site without having to go back.

One of the main plus points of the BBC website I feel is it's search facility. OK, it's just the same as most website to search, but rather than getting rid of older pages the BBC archives older pages and articles, but are saved in the format when they were written, for example an article relating to the EURO 2000 Championships would be viewable in an earlier version of the website, which I find interesting given that I've been using the website since about then. It has gone through many changes in the past, but the website has always been user friendly, keeping up with the times. Because of this I feel it appeals to people of all ages, as it's content goes on forever.

I personally use this website a lot, almost as much as social networking, e-mail et cetera. The articles across the website are always interesting, frequently contain video and flash to elaborate on the subject. Frequently updated, there is always something new to read. It is available in different languages to satisfy the needs of everyone, therefore making it useful to anyone in my opinion.
