Disadvantages: May not like reading the news

The BBC's news site is the best in my opinion. I have looked at others, and caught 'headlines' on various other web pages, but, none can match the professionalism and quality of aunties.

On the 'front page' you are confronted, usually, with three or four of the most important news events, together with an identifying picture, and links to further aspects of the story. Video and radio links are available for the complete picture, as it happens in many cases.

The who, where, why factors are discussed by all the instantly recognizable news correspondents we have been used to seeing and hearing on television, and provide a wealth of background information to any news event. Factfiles, Background Focus, Forum and Talking point are all equally useful in getting the whole picture of a current situation.

Anyone can become an expert in current affairs just by visiting this site. For instance, everything about the conflict in Afghanistan is disected in detail. From who the taliban are, to how Muslims are being affected, and from the Anthrax outbreaks to info on cluster bombs, the whole situation is presented in an easy to digest format, that is educational to everyone.

Of course, every news item is also covered further down the page, ie, politics, business, entertainment, etc.

I cannot speak highly enough about the BBc's news site, it is simply the best. If you weant to get a quick look at breaking events, just log into http://news.bbc.co.uk and see what's happening around the world.
