Like so many Hollywood 'A' list stars of years ago, Ms Davis was ruined by drink and cigarettes. A talented and gifted slapper, she was for a time able to transmute this 'energy' into film performances of great finesse and power. She was in private, at times, a total arse hole: bullying and tantrums were her usual ploys. She was not a very nice person. However, gods never are very nice.
