Advantages: updates on big brother house away from programme times
Disadvantages: Updates have got a bit infrequent, 'selling' things in different guises
f you're like me a Big Brother addict without E4, you'll like the Big Brother 3 website. There isn't an awful lot on the site and it's easy to navigate. When you go to the homepage there is a mug shot of all this years housemates past and present. When you click on their name you get a bit of blurb about their likes, dislikes, jobs and quirks as well as favourite foods, books (for some of them) and bands. You can rate them anything from love to bits to hate beyond belief. From their profile you can view their application tape (although you need to be paying for the BB internet link to do this) and get a list of their 'quotes' from their time in the house. I particularly recommend Jade's quotes they could probably start a separate website for the 'Is East Anglia in Tunisia' lady. The main body of the site is the updates from the house and this is the reason I visit the site. Throughout the day brief 'news' snippets are posted on the website with accompanying pictures and times that the event happened. This is where I first heard about the infamous 'wartagate' verrucca war. For those of you who don't watch big brother and have stumbled upon this opinion, this is when a drunken Jade got very upset when Adele pointed out the verucca on her foot. The updates don't seem to be as frequently posted, an attempt to get more people paying for the 24 hour internet view? Warning if you don't have E4 and want the nominations to be a surprise on Tuesday night avoid the website Tuesday afternoons, because they are posted on the website on Tuesday afternoons. On the left hand side of the home page is a list of other attractions on the site. WATCH LIVE The 'realone superpass'. This is an option to pay £9.99 a month to watch Big Brother 24 hours a day on the internet. 14 day free trial available. I think this is a bit of a con considering the first year big
brother was shown the whole concept was centred around how the public would be able to watch these 10 people for 24 hours a day on the internet, for no charge. Also I'm too cheap to shell out the money! BB ON MOBILE You can get BB updates texted to your phone for lots of money so you need never have any delay in finding out what the captive ones are doing. You can either request updates whenever you want them (25p a message plus usual text message charge) or have between 4 and 10 messages sent a week.for the same charge except for those who have a T mobile or virgin mobile phone who prepay £5 for 20 messages. In my opinion this is a bit of a waste of money as there are free updates on the website. DIARY ROOM You can access clips of some of the best diary room moments, but you have to have a realone superpass or be paying your £9.99 a month. COMMUNITY This is a live chat room where you can chew the fat over big brother. There is a forum board where you can discuss aspects of the house such as your favourite housemate, who you want out, which boy and girl you prefer and why. B.B ON TV This has all the details of the big brother schedule both on channel 4 and E4 B.B SHOP Through the BB shop on the site you can buy big brother t-shirts, bags, videos and the BB uncovered book. A good section for the extremely obsessed. On the right hand side of the homepage is a small fun poll i.e who is the most manipulative housemate - choose from choice of three. You can also view an archive of previous polls. So thats about it for the Big Brother website, it's a good way of getting updates on one of my favourite tv programmes. But I do remember it is a tv programme and avoid the site's attempts to get some money out of me.
