Advantages: Free, easy, lots of tools

Disadvantages: If it goes wrong it can be frustrating

I have been a user of Blogger for many years now, with some problems, but in the whole it has been very useful to me.

Blogger gives you access to a whole host of tools to get yourself a website online very very easily. The type of website it produces is akin to an online diary, where you can easily update it with daily entries, that can include pictures, movies and links to other websites. Setting up is simply a matter of choosing an available name, password, then choosing from a variety of template designs. Once up and running you can change colours, add widgets and extras to your website, like searchbars, weather trackers, youtube channels, the list is endless. Then it is just a matter of keeping it updated with your chosen news.

My best tip (which I try to adhere to myself) is that you should post a new entry at least once a day. The reason I say this is that it gives you readers something to regularly visit your website or blog to read. Keep the writing clean and try and illustrate it and you will soon build up a following.

The beauty of Blogger is that it can be tweaked into a really powerful tool. My website (Geekanoids) has seen many many edits to the template, the use of a separate host (for all the associated files and images), custom html code for adverts and links etc. Yes, this is for the more advanced users, but I am not a coder, I have learnt these things by trial and error over the last three or four years... so if you put your mind to it you can too.

The only real downside of the service is that it is free. When something goes wrong you have nobody to call. You can post online for help, or search for a solution yourself, but this is often quite slow. On some occasions you just have to wait for the problem to be fixed, which can be frustrating.

If you want a free and easy way to get your thoughts online, then Blogger is a very good way of doing it.

Summary: I love blogger and I am sure you will too
