Bookings is an online accommodation reservation system that can arrange your accommodation in many countries worldwide.

I used this service recently to arrange accommodation in Amsterdam and was impressed with the speed of service and the level of detail provided about all the hotels that they can reserve for. Their web address is www.bookings.nl for hotels in HGolland but you can link to other countries
from here.

Using this service, you can firstly look at the map if your geography of the country that you are visiting is not up to scratch! From there you can perform a search of all available hotels within a selected region and to do this you need to provide basic information such as the dates for which you are enquiring and how many people you wish to make a booking for (you can even select which rating to include in your search). The service will then list all hotels with availability for the dates that you specified.

You are then free to peruse this list looking at photos of hotel rooms and check out the room types on offer with associated costs. When you find one that you like, you can make an online unconfirmed enquiry and the service will email you in back in 24 hours with a response to say that the rooms are available and the cost. This is to take into account the fact that several people may make the same enquiries at the same time. Within the email received there is a hypertext link to another screen which will allow you to confirm the booking and make payment details.

I found this service extremely useful for when I needed to make a booking at late notice when I thought all hotels would be full. There were no difficulties and it was quicker than spending hours using different search engines to find accommodation. It is a free service which offers special rates if you use it to maek a booking so you can save a little money too whilst sorting out where you shall stay abroad.
