Child Safety on the Internet Reviews

Newest Review: ... fact I probably am, but I am very conservative in my own values, I could really care less what anyone else does. While I do not care for this type of material, and I find it exploitative of women, I would never get involved in what consenting adults choose to do or look at it. As an adult I did not consent to look at this, but it won't scar me for life. What I am so upset about is that this site was clearly designed to lure children into visiting it. It is in fact the second time I have come across extreme porn while looking for game information for Nintendo. I do think a lot more needs to be done in terms of preventing sites from showin... more

Just before we left on holiday, I was trying to find some pictures of Luigi's Mansion ghosts for a book my son is making about a ghost hunt for creative writing. I found one site that read "Luigi's Mansion - walk-through - pictures" That sounded about right so I clicked on and sure enough at the top of the page was a basic walk-through. or instructions for the game. At least I assume it was because once my eyes took in the pictures I was clicking away as fast as could be. I am just thankful my son was not watching as these were very hard core pornography pictures. Now I know I likely sound a bit of a prude, in fact I probably am, but I am very ... Excuse the review title as its to stop unsavoury external hits to dooyoo. .. The mischievous comedy show Brass Eye did this controversial half-hour show on paedophilia, one absurd sketch seeing six child astronauts blasted into space with an infamous 'pedo' stowaway. How unlucky is that. Plenty of people complained who didn't actually see the show and so grasp the point-the likelihood of your child being sexually molested by a stranger is thousands to one. The unfortunate paradox is that it's often the carers out there who are most likely to be sex offenders, why they choose that career in the first place, another parental fear the government are exploiting ... Child Safety is always a vague area when it comes to Internet use; there are preventions, warnings and education to help, but children will be children, and some will be too defiant to deter. Unfortunately I don't think websites can do very much, filters on Google and warnings on pornographic websites explaining that you must be 18 to enter, aren't strong enough barriers, and children can easily by pass them. I believe Child Safety on the Internet comes down to how well they are educated by their parents, whether strict rules are instigated within the house and whether there are sufficient consequences for going on 'bad' sites. I don't ... Read the complete review

Do you find yourself worrying about your kids online activities? Even if you think your kids are very sensible and completely trustworthy you should still be worried and still be monitoring their internet usage carefully. What can seem completely harmless to them could in fact be very dangerous. My niece had what she thought to be a very safe and completely harmless social networking page on Bebo but when I looked into it and pointed out all the worrying things she was very shocked at how silly she had been. Her page just said way too much about her and allowed people to get to know things that could jeopardise her safety. Her full name was there ... Read the complete review

Everybody worries about their kids going on inappropriate sites on the internet. But the simple fact is that if they really want to then they will. Of course you should talk tot hem and make sure they understand that many people on the internet are not who they say they are. You can also change your web browser settings so that it will block certain sites with images and such on and also you can regularly check the bropwsing history. The only problem with this is that they might know how to clear the history. The real problem is msn and chat rooms and social networking sites. Until a few years ago my mum kept me on locks about going on msn because she thought i ... Read the complete review
