bought 2 pairs of boots suede chukas and leather chukas suede ones had a big scratch across front on 1 of them and leather 1s had mould on inside of sole and were covered in dust

I have got three pairs of Samuel Windsor boots, two pairs of penny loafers, and some light summer shoes, all two pairs for £60. I have found them excellent. My local shoe repairer has reheeled the boots after a year of wear. The light pair are worn through now and I reckon I had decent enough wear from them.
I wear one pair against another and allow at least a couple o fdays rest. I also polish them regularly and see no reason why they sould not alst for years.
Oncwe worn in they are also very comfortable. Extraordinary value and at least as good as shoes costing around £100 from the High Street.

Was a little cautious about buying a pair of Samuel Windsor shoes after reading some of these reviews but i was reassured by 1,000's of customer review's on the Samuel Windsor site.

My shoes arrived quickly and the packaging was excellent. The shoes seemed to wear in quickly and after a day's use they were very comfortable indeed. My Oxfords had a rubber section on the sole and I found that these helped the shoes grip much better than the leather soles on my brogues. Lots of my colleagues have asked about the shoes and I have recommended Samuel Windsor to them all. I will definately use them again

I have been buying boots from SW for a number of years but recently the new boots are very poor quality. The stitching comes apart after a few weeks and the heels are coming off too. Also the dark tan boots scratch very easily and when you polish them they go black and off colour.. Spoke to the cobler he said cheaply made and sprayed which caused the marks... All in All poor

If you're tempted - DON'T. You don't even get what you pay for and could end up with serious foot problems "to boot" if you excuse the pun!

Bought two pairs of chukkas four months ago - usual newspaper insert tempted me. After I would reckon around 5 weeks of "office wear" one pair developed a hole in the sole. Worse than this both pairs (the other pair has been worn twice!) developed some interesting mould on the inners and soles which, thankfully, I spotted before putting them on or God knows what would have happened to my feet.

I have never had this happen with shoes and, thankfully, the other shoes alongside did not suffer the same "growths".

Purchased two pairs of these shoes ( Oxford and a Brogue) six months ago and have worn them pretty much every day since. I am realy impressed with them, they took little time to break in and still look great. I am really not sure how they can sell two pairs for such a cheap price ? But will certainly be using them again

I ordered 2 pairs of shoes at the end of last year. Service was great and both pairs arrived promply and in good order. Seems to be a completely different experience to most but I wouldn't hesitate to use them again

Beware of the premium rate phone number for this company. They will keep you on the phone for as long as possible and then cut you off. This is normal practice of a company who charge 10 pence per minute. Own experience echos the majority on here. Sent off for two pairs (one pair half brogue, one pair oxford). Card debited directly but shoes delayed "due to exceptional demand". The products (shoes) itself are too shoddy just like their customer services (or the lack of same). One of my most exasperating customer services experiences started when like as most of you have doe, I placed an order for 2 shoes after seeing their ad in The Times. Card got debited immediately but after 4 weeks, no shoes were delivered. Tried calling them many times, every time have to repeat the story, give all the details & every single time, I got different answers. When I tried cancelling the order, they sent the shoddy shoes the next day.

Same story as most; thought that as it was an offer promoted by The Times that the shoes MUST be half-way decent. Anyway, I quite happily ordered my shoes - one pair of Chelsea boots, another pair of Chukka boots. I was immediately debited for both pairs of shoes, then only one pair showed up (the Chelsea boots) and I was given the 'due to overwhelming demand' spiel. The Chelsea boots were fine for the first couple of days, then everything started to go wrong; the paint on the side of the soles and heel came off within days (even though I only wore them around a carpeted office!), then the heels, soles etc all went. I was then told that my Chukkas just weren't ever going to arrive so got my other £30 back. Again, if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is.

I have used Clifford James for 14 years. Apart from one dodgy pair of trainers, I have been very happy with them. I take size 15 although some of their size 14 shoes fit me. Having such big feet limits the choice and suppliers of footwear. I tend to visit their shop in Ripley although i still use their mail order service. I would not recommend these shoes to anyone. I was seduced by the two pairs for £60 offer in The Times and purchased a pair of black lace-ups for work and some brown suede boots. Do not buy these shoes!

I made that mistake. The paper thin leather soles wore out in weeks and when I took them for repair they said that they were typically cheap far-east shoes that they couldn't touch as the welts are so badly sewn (they just cannot be repaired).

I once ordered from Clifford James and when part of the order proved unsuitable it took for ever and a day to get my refund from somewhere in Powys I believe. I would never ever use the firm again. Customer service appalling.

The shoes have taken in all over 10 weeks to arrive. Their customer service is terrible. The shoes are OK. The old adage is correct in that if it looks too good to be true then it probably is......

I purchased my first two pairs about 18 months ago in a telegraph promotion, 2 pairs for £99. These were a suede brogue and a tan chukka boot.

The suede brogues, when they turned up, were in fact a rather tacky nubuck material that went very strange looking as soon as it got wet. I then returned the shoes as the eyelet came out when I was tying the laces. I eventually got a letter back saying that they would not exchange or refund the shoes, and I would have to pay £16 to get my shoes back!!!!

I ordered another 2 pairs at the £60 deal about a year ago. Same story as everyone else - heels coming off, leather quality poor, etc etc.

The old adage, "You get what you pay for", could not be more true when buying shoes. Avoid them at all costs!!!
